Merry Christmas!

From our family to yours Merry Christmas!
Love, Maureen, Douglas, Conner and Ethan

Cutie Pie

I snuck in a couple minutes yesterday and participated in another splitcoast sketch challenge (sc155). This is definitely a design I never would have come up with on my own. I wanted to do something "kid" oriented and decided to use "Wild about you" and SU! "cutie pie" designer paper. I had been admiring this paper for a while and snatched it up during the paper party promotion.

Stamp set: Wild about you Cardstock and ink: Cutie pie, purely pomegranate, bashful blue and whisper white Accessories: white grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, 1 1/4 circle punch

Have a good one!

Gift tags

I made these little gift tags for my son's teachers gifts. They were so simple to whip up and used scraps from my holiday stamp-a-stack.
Stamp set: Tags for all Cardstock: old olive, real red, very vanilla and dashing designer paper Accessories: real red and old olive markers, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches, scallop punch, 1/8 circle handheld punch, real red ribbon, dimensionals

Christmas cards

My Christmas cards are out. Most of our family and friends should have received them by now so I think it is safe to post it.
Stamp set: The snowflake spot Cardstock and ink: bravo burgandy, always articoke, whisper white, brushed gold and encore gold ink Accessories: ribbon, sponges, glue dots and snail adhesive

Baby Book - Part 2

I finally got a chance to post more of the baby book. Our internet has been down all day because of snow...ugh and it's STILL snowing. It took my poor husband 3 hours to get home from work and now he's plowing the driveway.
I still have 2 more pages and the recipe to post. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that later.

Baby Book- Part 1

As promised, although a couple of days late, here are some photos of the 6x6 baby album we did last Sunday at my "All about Babies-Album in a Day" class.
I'm first going to post the first half. I will post the 2nd half, title & last page along with the "recipe" tomorrow.
fyi - The colors look a bit off in these photos for some reason, pages are actually much cuter in person. It could be because it is dark and gray here (again) not the best light for photographs. Getting ready for ANOTHER storm tomorrow...ugh!

Porcelain Birthday

I have been so busy! I finally finished making my Christmas cards. Now I just need to sign, address, trim out the pictures of the boys and stuff...well, I guess they are not REALLY done. I'm also working on a baby scrapbook using the Simply Scrappin' kit "Special Delivery", I'm doing a class on Sunday where the women will complete a 20 page 6x6 album using half of the kit. I'll post some pictures after the class. I always like to be surprised ;) I also want to get started on a family album for my Grandparents...ugh...when am I supposed to get all of this done?
I made this card last week for my sister-in-law. I don't think she checks my blog regularly so I think I'm safe. (Amy close your eyes if you are here!)I was looking to make something girly and this is what I came up with.
Stamp set: Happy Everything Cardstock: Blue Bayou, very vanilla, porcelain prints Ink: Blue bayou, certainly celery (for flower) Accessories: double stitched ribbon, glue dots, pretties kit

Retiring Sunflowers

On December 1st Stampin' Up! released their retiring stamp set list. 9 of my favorites are on that list (boo-hoo)!! These sets will only be available until the end of the year. See if your favorites are going by clicking on the Stampin' Up! link.
The retiring accessories list is coming on December 10th.
Who's getting excited for the new catalog?

Stamp set: Serene Sunflowers Cardstock: chocolate chip, so saffron, whisper white Inks: so saffron, summer sun, old olive, chocolate chip, soft sky Accessories: sponges, ribbon, ticket punch.

Wanted Birthday card

December is a busy month for us. Not only do we have the holidays to get ready for but it is also my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and sisters birthdays!! I decided to take a break from making my Christmas cards and make some birthday cards.
Today's post is the card I made for my brother-in-law. I started with his because his birthday is first on the 9th. I used the "Wanted" stamp set and "Outlaw" designer paper. The layout was a sketch challenge over at splitcoast (sc150). I do love those sketch challenges. I have a very hard time making cards and the sketches help me get started. The only accessory I used on this card was linen thread, oh, and I did just a little sponging on the edges. I had wanted to use some brads too but I loaned out my punches. Anyway, another simple you see a trend here? Have a great weekend!

Super simple baroque holiday

This was so simple to make I should have used it as my Christmas card this year!!
My boys were making me crazy this afternoon and I slipped away into my stamping room and threw this together in less then 10 minutes!! It is so simple and easy to replicate, maybe you'll see it again next year.
This set remains my favorite, it's hard NOT to make something beautiful with it!!
Stamp sets: Baroque motifs and In my thoughts Inks and Cardstock: wild wasabi, purely pomegranate, basic black accessories: gingham ribbon

Time Well Spent

Stampin' Up! is awesome. They sent all demonstrators a FREE stamp set called Time Well Spent. It will be a level 3 hostess set in the upcoming Spring-Summer catalog.
I have to admit I wasn't overly excited about it. It's kind of cutesy and flowery. It's a line stamp meant for coloring...those three qualities are not really something I look for in a stamp set. My first attempt with the set should be titled "Time NOT well spent", it is definitely not my favorite card. I may post it later.
After looking through the catalog for inspiration, I came across the card on pg. 141. Setting out to CASE it, the card above is what I came up with. Using different stamp sets, changing the papers and embellishments a bit, I made the card my own.

Stamps: Time Well Spent, Happy Everything Cardstock: Really Rust, Old Olive, Whister White and Fall Flowers designer series paper Ink: White craft Accessories: 1 1/4 circle punch, scallop punch, linen thread, fire rhinestones, dimensionals

Birthday party

On Saturday afternoon I did a little girls 7th birthday party in our community. This is a 6 x 6 scrapbook page that the girls made. They also made a 6 x 6 album but I can't post it because I gave my sample to one of the girls.
I'm so not used to girls: dancing, singing, all hugging each different they are from my boys who may hug but also wrestle, run and yell like monsters, roar like dinosaurs and fight like power rangers. It was a whole new world for me!!
Stamp sets: polka dots and paisleys, Sweet on you Cardstock: tempting turquoise, regal rose, cool carribean, retired SU! designer paper inks: tempting turquoise accessories: colored pencils, ribbon, 1 3/8 punch, scalloped punch, spiral punch, 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds

The final one...

I think this is the last page I will post from my weekend getaway. It was the last page I did that weekend, so I thought it was fitting to post it last. I am always scrapping pictures of the boys and recently decided that I should try to include more of me and Doug so the kids can look back one day and see that we love each other too.
This is another page done with a retired simply scrappin' kit "At home". I also used the On Board lots of letters, retired SU! in colors, brads...sorry I'm so lazy about posting my "recipes" if you ever want to know what I used or how I did, please leave a comment and I'll be happy to post more detailed instructions!
That's all for now, have a good day!

First Snow

I thought this was the perfect layout to post since we woke up the other morning to our first snow. It wasn't anything substantial, an inch or so, but enough to get the boys excited to go play outside.
This layout contains pictures from a huge storm we had last winter. The boys got all bundled up and went sledding in our backyard.
I used yet another retired SU! simply scrappin' kit for this one, 2-way glue pen, dazzling diamonds, non-SU! snowflake punches and sticker.

Two more...

This weekend I found myself using tons of kits: At home, Creative license, Secret Garden...and lots of retired SU! designer papers...making room so I can take advantage of the November paper party promotion!
Hope you enjoy seeing my pages, there are more to come!

Our Daddy's Hand

I think this is my favorite of all of the layouts I did this past weekend. It's a picture of Doug and the boys at Lazy 5 Ranch on our trip to NC. I found this poem entitled "My Daddy's Hand" and I changed a few words since we have the two boys. The poem reads:

Our Daddy's Hand
Daddy, take our hands in yours and you will plainly see,
how very much we need you now to love us completely.
As our little hands grow, we will need you even more,
Everything we do in life, we've never done before.
Teach us to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving.
Show us through your acts of love the pure joy of living.
The years will pass by quickly and one day we'll be grown,
We will pass what you have taught us to children of our own.
Hold us always in your thoughts and remember when we are apart,
The special love between a father and a son.
Love, Conner and Ethan

It goes perfectly with the photo, don't you think?

Stamp set: Wanted cardstock: v.vanilla, chocolate chip, outlaw paper ink: chocolate chip accessories: scallop punch, sponges, grosgrain ribbon, neutral button, hemp twine

Scrap Weekend was awesome!!!

This is the first of 21 pages I completed this weekend,it was awesome. I fell in love with scrapbooking all over again. I was so inspired and motivated being in a room of women who love this hobby as much as I do.
I spent 2 full days scrapping, slept in a hotel room all by myself (in an incredibly comfortable bed without a night light), ate warm meals without getting up 15 times. I feel rejuvenated!!!!
Anyone who loves to stamp (there were also cardmakers there) or scrap should definitely participate in an event like this!
The next weekend getaway is in May, keep it in mind, this could be a fantastic gift for the holidays. I will post more information later.
I'll try to share a page or layout a day for the next week or so.

This page was completed using the Simply Scrappin' kit "Secret Garden" I also used a pearl from the "pretties kit", brads and articoke grosgain ribbon.

Scrapbooking Weekend Getaway!!!

I leave tomorrow morning for my scrap weekend. My pictures and supplies are packed and ready to go. It's been a long week, with two sick kids we haven't had a fever free day yet, and I am soooooooo ready to go!!
I am hoping to get tons of pages done, taking breaks only to eat and sleep. Hopefully I'll have lots to post next week.
Hope you have a great weekend, I know I will!!!

Holiday Stamp-A-Stack

These are the cards that we will be making at my Holiday Stamp-A-Stack on November 18th at 1:00pm. The fee is $20. You will make 12 cards, 4 of each of these designs.
Let me know if you'd like to attend, I'd love to have you join me!

Wild cards...

This is a really super simple card!! I got the idea from a stamper at SCS. The only thing I did to change it was add a layer. These are great to have on hand, I made a few of them to send out Conner's school picture. I have a friend that is having a baby soon and I'm going to make her a bunch (either blue or pink depending on what she has) and change the sentiment to "Thank you", so she doesn't have to worry about buying thank you's.
Stamp set- Wild about you Inks/cardstock- wild wasabi, basic black, whisper white Assessories- black gingham ribbon, mini glue dots

Giving thanks

I have a bunch of thank u's to get out. I initially pulled out a different set but "Give Thanks" caught my eye and I thought it was the perfect set to make fall thank you cards.
I like simple, if you haven't noticed. I don't like to use a lot of embellishments or papers. For me, it gets to busy and takes away from the design. My philosophy, less is more!!
I have another card to make and I'm going to try to use this set again. I'll post what I come up with.

Envelope memory album

This is an album I made for my father-in-law who is in rehab recovering from a stroke. He is doing great and will be going home on Oct. 29th. I am hoping it helps to see pictures of everyone that loves him.
I got the idea and instructions for this album from splitcoaststampers. If you'd like to make one of your own here is the link to the tutorial
The only change I made was to use the long, letter size envelopes.
It's really a great project. It opens accordian style and there are 4 mini pages on each side. I decided to make all of the photos black and white since they were all taken at different times and I wanted them to coordinate with each other. I love the retired SU! treehouse paper and think it looks great for masculine pages!

Perfect Presentation

This is another splitcoast sketch challenge (sc145). I'm really enjoying doing these, and I finally got a chance to use my wintergreen designer paper. I love the greens used in this paper!! Next time I think I will use craft white ink to stamp the word "sparkle", it is definitely too dark in always articoke ink!!
Stamp set: perfect presentation, warm words Inks: certainly celery, always articoke Cardstock: Celery, articoke, whisper white and wintergreen dp Accessories: 2 way glue pen, dazzling diamonds, ribbon, ticket punch

Be Original

With everything we have going on I haven't had much time to play :( but I did manage to complete a scrapbook page last night. I used an SU! Simply Scrappin' kit which made it incredibly easy to complete this layout. They come in handy when you have time constraints!!! If you haven't seen these, you must! They come with textured cardstock, double-sided designer paper and coordinating embellishments. Here's what I did with the "Creative License" kit.
Cardstock: Blue Bayou, pumpkin pie, designer papers from kit Inks: blue bayou, only orange, soft sky, wild wasabi, Stamp Sets: Headline Alphabet, Typeset upper and lower, stamp of authenicity Accessories: blue bayou double stitched ribbon, stampin' dimensionals

Life gets crazy!

I haven't had any time to stamp or scrap but wanted to add some new pictures to my blog. Here are two I did last week. The x-mas card is a sketch challenge I did on splitcoaststampers (sc143). I always wanted to try one and have a feeling I'll be doing it again. I'll add the recipes later. Have a good weekend!

More new stuff...

Here is another card I made using more of my new goodies. Again, a very simple card. Stamp: Define your life CS: bravo burg, river rock Ink: bravo burgandy Accessories: pretties kit, 5/8 grosgrain ribbon in bravo burgandy, photo corners

Define your life

Today is my birthday, happy birthday to celebrate I bought some new stamps and scrapbooking supplies!! My favorite new stamp set is Define your life. I've had my eye on it since the new catalog came out. This is an itty bitty card, I got the idea from a stamper on splitcoast. It was so quick and simple, I think I'm going to make a whole bunch of them!!!
Stamp sets: Define your life, typeset upper & lower Inks/CS: soft sky and chocolate chip Accessories: choc chip ribbon and the pretties kit.

Family heritage page

This is a scrap page I did for a family heritage album I am starting. Pictured here are my maternal greats, Mema and PopPop.
I used the baroque motifs stamp set and brocade background designer paper, which absolutely screams heritage pages to me! I also used black and white gingham ribbon, brads, white gel pen and the ticket punch.

Here we go...

It's taken me several days to figure this all out. Apparently safari and blogspot are not compatible and I was unable to include pictures on my blog. I think I have it all worked out.
Here are 2 cards I made with The Snowflake Spot

My new blog

Starting a new blog, one I can hopefully grow with!
I started working on my Christmas cards last night. I'm using The Snowflake Spot, my favorite holiday set.
I'm not sure I'll be posting it, I don't want to ruin the surprise (like anyone will be upset they saw their card before getting it in the mail:) )
I will post a card using this set tomorrow...if I can figure out how!
