I tried the color challenge this week at Splitcoast (cc216). It is to use real red, old olive, basic black and whisper white. I would usually only use these colors for Christmas, but it works here :) Clean and simple. I think I'll be giving this to my Mom for Mother's Day. My Mom, sister and I usually get together the Saturday before Mother's Day and have a real girly girl day...lunch, shopping, ice cream. It's a fun day we all look forward to. I don't know why we don't do it more often throughout the year? TFL!!!
...What is going on? I imported a perfect, crisp clean picture, why is it all blurry? And the colors are all off..ugh, blogger issue I guess?
Happy Tuesday! I decided to try the Mojo Monday sketch today. I was initially going to use Trendy Tress, but then remembered my much neglected Always set. I had forgotten how much I loved this birdie!!! I definitely need to start giving this set some more love!!!
What an absolutely fabulous day...hiking, ice cream, reading, stamping, hubby made me dinner...Seriously, what else could a girl want??? I wish this day would never end:)
On to the card...I love how elegant this set is! I seem to gravitate towards it when making birthday cards. And I just love mixing it with elegant eggplant!! I also used prima flowers and a pearl from SU!'s Pretties Kit. I hope my Gramma likes it!!
Lauren Meader is running a different challenge every week :) This week is the My Time to Color challenge. Here's my entry. I've been using this layout a lot lately. I wanted to use something quick and easy because it is hard to stay inside when it is so gorgeous outside! We're going on a hike in a bit. I can't wait to get some fresh air and some exercise. Lauren chooses her new design team today, my fingers are crossed, but there are SO MANY very talented girls out there.
Have a great one!
You can't visit the Inner Harbor without going to the aquarium!! It's so much fun. Although it was soooo crowded you could barely get close enough to see the fish, we really enjoyed the dolphin show and the Australia exhibit.
I used baja breeze and pacific point paper. I resisted getting pacific point, but, WOW, look how perfect it is with the water!! I must get a pack of the dsp before it retires!!!!!! I think it will be great for summer/beach layouts. Oh, speaking of layouts, this one was inspired by a sketch I saw on "Inspired Blueprints".
Have a great weekend!
The boys were invited to go to a birthday party this weekend, they are psyched!! I wanted to make something super simple and cased a tart and tangy card by Jill Hillard. I changed up the papers and stamp, but basically, this layout is hers :) Thanks for the inspiration Jill :)
I don't seem to get anything done lately, unless it's a sketch. Thankfully, there are tons of sketches out there to get my creative juices flowing. This is Jen Peel's April Sketch Challenge. She uses an 8 x 10 photo on the 2nd page, but since I didn't have any laying around, I used an 8 x 10 mat and cut down my photos to fit it. My goal was to make this clean and simple, as not to draw the eyes away from the pictures. What a beautiful summer day in Baltimore, I love it down there :)
Yay, my first post surgery creations...it felt so good!!! Lauren Meader's chatter about a new design team got my booty running upstairs to work on her sketches. I did two of the three and fizzled out before getting the third done :( But, a huge accomplishment on my part. I hope this means I'm on the mend!!
Unfortunately, I can not figure out how to copy Lauren's images and post them on my blog (anyone with a mac, I'm open to some help here). I had to use my Parisian Breeze paper today, I am so in love with Baja Breeze right now (can you tell?) I also used my PTI stamps Damask Designs and Friends til the end, both have the most beautiful images!!!
Have a great night everyone. Maybe tomorrow I'll get the third sketch done...
This surgery stuff stinks, I have no energy, and no mojo!! I made this card a while back and since I have nothing new to share, I thought I'd share this. I love this color combo. I will be sad when baja breeze retires. I always get attached to the blue in colors!! I'm hoping to be able to do some creating by the end of the week.
Have a great day!!
I haven't shared a scrapbook page for a while and thought I would today. I had my surgery on Tuesday and I am slowly making my way back to the living. I'm whooped, took 3 naps today and feel like I could go right back to bed. I'm hoping that I feel better tomorrow because on Monday my hubby goes back to work and both of the kids are home, yikes!! I haven't even driven yet!!!
Have a nice Easter!!
I'm three for three on these challenges, whoo-hoo!!
Honestly, this was a CHALLENGE, holy cow. I threw away my first two attempts. Luckily I had a pack of SU!'s Ginger Blossom paper, otherwise, this challenge NEVER would have happened. I've used this layout before, switched it around a bit and am happy with the outcome.
Phew...I don't know how Dawn does it :)
This is not my usual color combo, but it WORKS!! Since dropping as a demo, I have so much cardstock that I never touch. Along with my goal of making a stock pile of cards, I'm trying to pull out some of those colors I don't usually use. I've had this pack of Elegant Eggplant in my closet since my first workshop in March 2007 and I haven't touched in since.
Words of wisdom for this Friday...Bad economy + no money = make due with what you've got :)
