I started scrapbooking after my son Conner was born in 2003. I've my boys lives as babies and little boys, milestones, vacations, etc. Recently I began an album titled "My life" and started scrapping some of the important moments/people in my life BEFORE kids (it's hard to imagine, but I DID have a life before my kids). This layout is our engagement. We hiked to a beautiful overlook at Allamuchy State Park, where Doug popped the question and then came home to a house full of our family and friends. A wonderfully perfect day :) It brings back so many memories! I can't wait to dig up some more old pics!!!
*This layout was done using Jen Peel's monthly scrapbok sketch challenge.
Two posts in one day...wow! That may actually be a first. I have a long list of things I SHOULD be doing, but I wanted to get this posted first.
At first glance, I thought, no way am I going to even attempt this challenge..LOTS of colors and bright ones that I'm not used to using. Then I remembered a CAS sketch challenge (SCS) from a few weeks ago and thought it would work, and it did :)
I made this card for one of the teachers at my son's school. Last week there was a horrible accident in our town and the son of this teacher was hit by a truck. He is doing well (amazingly) and may even be coming home today. I thought these cheerful colors might brighten her day. I hope they did. Please say a prayer for Nathaneal, it seems to me someone is already watching over him!!
Time for another Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. This week the colors were Moss, Articoke and Raspberry. I was going for a bit of a shabby look and distressed the edges a bit with my scissor, but you really can't see that in the picture. I hope you like it :) TFL!!
Being new to stamping with acrylic stamps, I was looking for a way to organize them. The minute I saw Lauren Meader's template "From the desk of", I knew it was just what I needed. I have my stamps in the front and the acrylic blocks in the back. I have it set on top of my ink pad holder, and used colors that coordinate with my stamping room. I LOVE to be organized and I love when everything has a place :)
How do you organize your stamps?
While doing my normal morning blog hopping, I came across a beautiful card set made by Dawn McVey, using her set Damask Designs. She talks about making your own patterned paper. It was truly gorgeous (it also used other sets and now I'm dying to get the new flourish set by PTI). I decided to give it a try. With my mother-in-law in mind, I decided to use So Saffron and PTI kraft. I'm thrilled with the outcome, clean, simple and beautiful :) Have a great Memorial Day everyone. I'll be back next week!!
Time for another My Time Challenge (MTTI 01). This week the challenge was an inspiration, an adorable dress from The Children's Place (so glad I don't have girls, I'd be SO broke). Here's what the dress inspired me to make. I used some SU! paper, a SU! retired stamp set "Oh so Lovely" (I think that's the name) and the sentiment is from PTI Damask Designs. TFL :) Have a good one!
Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mommy's out there! I am completely enjoying my day. I got to sleep in and have been in my stamping room all day. I'm even still in my robe. I love waking up on Sunday mornings and trying out Dawn's color challenge. Although, they are always a challenge. This week was to use light and dark pink, white and gray. Here's what I came up with...
The Way to Use Use it Challenge this week (WT217) was to use kraft cardstock. Easy Peesy. At least it should have been!! But something about this card is just all wrong! My son Ethan said "Mommy, it's beautiful. But why is it so brown?" Good question. I love choc chip and kraft together, I wanted to use the polka dot ribbon and I just couldn't figure out how to in corporate another color. So, this is what I came up with. I like the idea, but don't love the outcome! Any ideas?
And, yes, it's STILL dark, dreary and just about to storm. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some nice projects and photography. Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day!
Another Mojo Monday Sketch, that I actually made on Monday, but didn't get around to photographing until today. I've been waiting for the weather to clear so that I can get a nice picture, but no such luck :(
Once again, I've used the Parisian Breeze dsp by SU! LOVE IT!! And paired it with Fifth Avenue Floral. The sentiment is from Baroque Motifs (which has been completely ignored since I ordered my new stamps!!) I adjusted the sketch a bit and left off one of the panels...this is a keeper. I'm definitely making several to have on hand (deja vu, I think I said the same thing in my last post :) I have really got to figure out how to copy images so that I can post sketches here. I'll ask my hubby tonight, he knows everything there is to know about a mac!
Another My Time sketch (32) and a double challenge to make it a birthday card in honor of Lauren's birthday. I used SU!'s Trendy Trees and Define your life. I struggle with masculine cards, it's so hard to keep it simple. Don't get me wrong, I love clean and simple, but I LOVE bows so much :) I always like to add a bow, unfortunately a bow on a man card is just all wrong. I went with just little bits of ribbon and a button (if I can't do a bow, then I have to use a button!!!) I also did some sponging around the edges. I think I'll make a couple more of these to keep on hand for the special men in our lives, maybe changing the definition stamp to "Always", "xoxo" or "Because". Great cards to have around just in case.
Oh, Ethan loves his new desk organizer. We have been spending sooo much time stamping and coloring. I got another 2 cards made today. That's pretty good for a weekday.
More later! Happy Monday!
Time for another Raspberry Suite Color Challenge, to use brown, aqua and white. Since this is my FAVORITE color combo, I had to play along. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the parisian paper, geez, what took me so long to get it? I have to get more before it retires!!!
Gotta go, off to Gram's and lunch with my Aunt and Uncle.
Have a good one :) Be back with a mytime sketch!
I finally purchased my first Timeless Template from PTI. Lauren Meader is sooooo talented, I have no idea how she comes up with this stuff, but I sure do love it!!! For practice, I made this for my son Ethan. He loves to spend time with me in my stamping room, coloring, stamping, cutting...so I figured I'd make him his own little area. I organized all of my paper and gave the colors I don't use to him. I trimmed down some papers so that he doesn't go through 10, 12x12 pages every 10 minutes, lol and put them in the front of his organizer.
I have a million ideas in my head for this template, I'm going to have them all over my house :) And forget it, everyone is getting one for their next birthday and teachers gifts...And, it was super simple to put together.
I hope you like it!!!
