Just my type!

**This is my 2nd post today, please scroll down for the SSC Color Challenge...

I know I already posted today, but I couldn't wait to get this one up!! I'm so in love with this October Afternoon paper that I want to wallpaper my Stamping room in it!!! Seriously...check this out.
I love the bold pattern and the contrast of the yellow on black!! I tend not to use that often as it always seems bumblebee-ish to me. And how cute is the typewriter & sentiment...also October Afternoon from the Thrift Shop Collection.

For today, I decided on a bit of a vintage-y look. I started out by distressing the patterned paper. Then I added my scallop border. I was looking to do a large scalloped border, so I used my circle punch, cut the circles in half and adhered them to the card. Next came the ribbon, which I folded on top of itself a couple of times (I'm digging that lately.) Then I added my typewriter and the sentiment. I thought I was finished, but something was missing. I had two leftover circles from my border & decided to crumple them up and make a cute little flower embellishment!!!

A close-up of the details...

What do you think? I think I'm in love, it's JUST my type! (That was corny, sorry!)

Have a happy Thursday :)

Spring Beads

It's Thursday girls & that means it's time for another Color Challenge! Check out these awesome inspiration beads:

Using only these three colors & a neutral background, this is my take:

Once again, I've chosen a very CAS design (are you noticing a pattern here?) I tend to lean toward this style. I like everything to be neat and tiddy in my cardmaking (in my life too). I sometimes stray, trying out different styles, but always come back to Clean and Simple!

I hope you'll play along! Did you know that for every challenge you play along with during the month, you are entered into a contest to win this?

If you win, not only are you a VERY lucky lady, but you will also be our Featured Designer :) Don't worry, there is still time to play!! Run, don't walk...color your world!

Stamp: Inkadinkadoo Gemstone Insects
Ink: Versamark, Old Olive
Paper: So Saffron, Old Olive, Really Rust(?), SU! dsp & PTI Kraft
Accessories: clear embossing powder, heat gun, ribbon, button, punch & thread

Color w/a twist

Super quick today girlies...It's SSC Card Challenge time...
I loved this color inspiration!!! So bright & cheery. Isn't it fun?

And, my card:
I used a very Clean & Simple design that really packs a punch. Using PTI's Polka Dot Basics and Beyond Basic borders , I made my own patterned paper. Then stamped two leafy stems and added my buttons. That's it! Easy-Peasy!!!

Be back later to add my supply list. Off a running...bye!

Original Grandpa...

Wow, this is turning out to be one CRAZY week, I have so much to do, I don't even know where to begin. And the kids are in one of those, "worst enemy" phases...I had to post this though. I made it over a month and have had to sit on my hands to keep myself from posting it. This week's SSC Sketchy Saturday, a few days late:

My take:

This is my Grandpa, back in his navy days. Isn't he the most handsome young man? To me, he is the original "Melville" (my maiden name). A man full of strength and honor, the quiet observer. My Grandpa was always special, but in his later years, he became even more so. Once only adding small one liners into a conversation, he became so chatty :) It was fun to watch this transformation. He took over as a father figure for both me & my sister after our Dad passed. He helped us buy our cars & walked us down the aisle at our weddings. He drove many miles to meet both of my boys (a trip that should have taken 1.5 hrs, I'm sure took him three)!! He was everything a Grandpa should be & more. I miss him very much and I'm so happy I was able to make this page to honor him.

National Scrapbooking Day

What are you doing for National Scrapbooking Day?
Come celebrate with us!!
A weekend jam-packed with challenges, tutorials & games...prizes in EVERY category, it is going to be a blast!! I hope you'll join us :)

A Saturday share & color cue

Before I share a bit of our Saturday, I wanted to share this:
I recently came across WPLUS9 Design Studio. And, I'm totally loving what I'm seeing. Their new Woodgrain sets are fab :) You must stop and check it out here: http://www.wplus9.com/

Here's my take on the Color Cue:

Such fun colors to work with. I chose Birdwatching Additions and clear embossed those cute little birds on Melon Berry, Bordering Blue & So Saffron cardstock and then trimmed them out and mounted them on dimensionals. I also added a simple button and thread detail, just for a little added extra special touch. And, finished it off with some dazzling diamonds on the blue birds heart! Truly a CAS card for you today :)

T-Ball kicked off a few weeks ago. I missed the first game, but had my camera in tow today! This is how we spent our Saturday...
Conner & Ethan, brothers & Best Buds

Conner running to home plate.

Ethan fielding.

I didn't get any good shots of them at bat, that will have to wait until the next game. From the game we were off to a b-day party. The kids have definitely their fill for the day. I'm almost looking forward to having a rainy day at home tomorrow. I'm beat!!

How'd you spend your Saturday?

Celebrate 2s4Y :)

Time for another 2S4Y sketch challenge! Check out this beauty... I had so many ideas in my head, I just couldn't wait to get started!

And, my card...
Can I just say "I am in LOVE". This new paper from October Afternoon is making me drool!! It is gorgeous! I kind of started out making a baby card with the pink & red floral pattern, but then I added the red doily paper and it's kind of leaning toward a holiday card! Either way, I love it! I don't usually say that about my own cards, but this combines just about everything I love at the moment: Buttons, ribbon, sheet music (lovin' this trend big time).

Here's a closeup shot of some of the details.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your day with me. TGIF!

Just Because

It's hump-day :) Yippee!!! And, it's time for a SSC Card Challenge!! How about a little inspiration for you this morning:

I was inspired by the colors mostly. So soft & beautiful!! The shape of the cups and saucers made me think of buttons!! (Come on, are you really surprised about that?)

Happy Monday! Here we go, another week begins. Are you ready for it? I'm not so sure that I am. How about this sweet number to brighten your morning...
I'm having so much fun making patterned paper with MTME Fanciful Flourishes! I love the added touch the embossed polka dots gives it too. All this little card needed to finish it off was some ribbon, a punched butterfly and that sweet sentiment!
Well, off to start this Monday morning! Have a good one!

Stamps: MTME Fanciful Flourishes, PTI Everyday Button Bits
Ink: SU! Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink
, PTI Kraft, White, SU! Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Ribbon, MS butterfly punch, pearl, SU! Eyelet punch

I'm baaack!

I can't believe it. I never thought I'd be back to creating already!! I'm getting a bit antsy here taking all this time to recoup! I've watched more tv than I usually do in 3 months and pardon me here, but my hiney hurts from sitting down for so long. I think returning to my stamping room and making a card is good for my recovery :) Just what the Dr. ordered!

I finally spent some time online this morning visiting all of my favorite inspirational blogs. I stopped by 2 Sketches for You and came across this awesome sketch! I love when you can make a sentiment the focal point.
I had to give it a try. Here you go:

Isn't this paper delicious! All those glittery apples and cherries, oh, it's just to die for in person! I paired it along with a scrap of October Afternoon green gingham paper from the Weathervane Collection. The label was stamped with "So Sentimental", trimmed and the sentiment was stamped with PTI "Everyday Button Bits" and punched out with my small oval punch. I lined the outside of the oval with my glue pen and sprinkled dazzling diamonds along the edges to give it just a little bit of bling! (Try clicking on the photo to get a better look at the details, it's a gloomy day here in NE PA) A ribbon and a bow finished up this yummy card!

I hope you like it! I definitely had fun with this one!!

Stamps: So Sentimental (MTME), Everyday Button Bits (PTI)
Ink: SU! Ruby Red
Paper: SU! Ruby Red, Very Vanilla, K & Company Fruit Filled, Oct. Afternoon

Gotta play catch up!

Sorry for my long delay in posts!! I had every intention of stopping in and warning you of a brief disappearance. I had sinus surgery on Tuesday and spent the remainder of the week in bed resting. I'm starting to get back SOME energy, very little, but some is better than none!!

Here are some of the challenges that posted over at SSC over the past week:

Color Combo Challenge Week 3

Card Challenge "Inchies"

Sketchy Saturday Week 2

April Paper Scraps Challenge

I hope to be back to creating again soon! Have a great weekend :)

Gettin' sketchy!

Gosh, do I ever love sketches. Card sketches, layouts, just LOVE them!! However, I'm not always the best at sticking to them. This weeks CPS161 sketch:

My card:
Can you see where I was coming with this? I flipped the sketch, the three circles are my buttons and I have the same number of layers...As I say ALL the time, a sketch is a starting place! I love the outcome on this cheery card! Thanks CPS for another great sketch!!

Stamp: PTI Everyday Button Bits
Ink: Chocholate Chip, Old Loive
Paper: PTI Kraft, SU Vanilla, Cosmo & SU! pp
Accessories: punches, sponges, button, ribbon

Catching up...

So, I'm a bit behind on posting here. Lots of challenges are going on at SSC.
Here are two that I participated in.

First, the Card Challenge this week is a sketch designed by our very own Patricia.

Next up, Color Combo:

I'll be back later to add my supplies and to post the April Paper Scraps challenge! And, tomorrow, Sketchy Saturday!!!

A little peek

I hope you all had a nice holiday, or weekend, if you don't celebrate Easter. I have really enjoyed this family time at home with my husband and boys, Conner & Ethan. I don't usually share personal pics, but I thought I would today. Here's a small peek at our weekend. You know I took a million pics and I don't want to bore you with all of that.

Saturday we celebrated Easter with my Mom, Sister & Brother-in-law. We went out for a really nice lunch and then to an awesome playground by my Mom's house.

This is Ethan (5 1/2) all done with his eggs. As usual, the boy is covered head to toe with die. Right from the dining room to the tub!

Here's Conner (7) after our Easter egg hunt in the backyard. It's the first time we've done that and I think it will become a family tradition.
So, that was our weekend. I hope you enjoyed getting a little peek into our lives.
I'll be back tomorrow with a Card Challenge. See you then!

Two for you

* Second post today, please scroll down to see my Inspired post!

After months of visiting the 2S4Y blog, I finally decided it was time to play along!
For whatever reason, I couldn't get the sketch to work for me. It's an awesome sketch, I had tons of ideas, I just couldn't make all of the pieces work together! I tried twice and still couldn't get all of the elements together on one card. Each element appears at least once between the two, lol :)

Card #1:

Card #2:
Thanks for taking a peek at my interpretations! It's amazing how one sketch can lead to so many different possibilities!!

Stamps: MTME So Sentimental (Card #1), PTI Damask Designs (Card #2)
Ink: Choc. Chip, Pretty in Pink
Paper: PTI Kraft, SU Ruby Red, Choc Chip, Pretty in Pink, BG Blush pp
Accessories: Rhinestones, SU Edge punch, PTI buttons, dimensionals, Offray ribbon

This card was inspired by two things.

1.) CPS160 sketch. It's been a very long time since I've made a 3x6 card and had to give it a try.
2.) Don't laugh...I was snuggling on the couch with Conner and watching "Bigfoot presents Meteor and his Monster Truck Friends". If you don't have small kids at home, it's a show on Discovery Kids about trucks that talk and race, they go to school...you know, all that good stuff. Anyway, one of the Mom trucks had this awesome color combo and design on her door. I literally ran upstairs and started pulling out colors and stamps so that I could re-create it! Conner was impressed and agreed that it looks like the truck :) This is such and unlikely color choice for me. But I love how bright and fun it is. It make me think of summer and vacation!
I chose the sentiment "Just do it", because the swirls and butterflies make me feel like I could do anything. It says freedom & starting over. It's the perfect card for someone who is starting a new phase in their life.

So, Just do it, be inspired, try something new today. xo

Soaking in Color

Phew, It's been a hectic week, TGIF! The boys (including my hubby) are on Spring break. I'm thrilled to be laying low, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather April has brought us!! It was 70 here yesterday and I soaked in every ray of sun that I could :) I'm a very happy lady!!!

Two SSC Color Challenges have posted in the past couple of days.
The first:

I hope you get a chance to play along :) Hugs!!
