Joy on this day

This weekend, I played along with fellow DT gal, Patricia, in her blind scraplift. Essentially you are scraplifting or CASE-ing a layout that you've never seen. She listed materials needed and then instructions on how to put the page together. Let me tell you, THIS was a challenge. I know I did not get all of the page put together perfectly, but I am thrilled with how it came out.

Not usually a color combo I use, but I pulled some of the colors from my bouquet for my paper choices. The panel on the right side was stamped with Damask Designs in SU! So Saffron Ink. I made the puffy flowers using a tutorial I've used a few times by Dawn McVey, except this time I left the buttons out of the center & just kept them puffy! I added faux stitching on the right side of the page by paper piercing and then drawing X's with a black marker.
On July 2nd, my hubby & I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. I loved creating this page and taking a trip down memory lane.

Cards, cards & more cards!!!

Well, hello!!!
I have so much to show you. It's been a while, huh? Sorry!!! Did you come over to SSC for our Crop this weekend? It was a blast. You have until Monday at midnight to enter, so...if you haven't stopped in yet, run, don't walk!!!

Where to begin? First I have a pun-ny kind of card for you.

Last weeks Card Challenge was to use a pun. I pulled out one of my favorites & made this!

This soft little beauty was for one of my challenges at the Crop this weekend. It was a recipe where you had to use certain embellishments & techniques. Head over to SSC for the deets:

The last for today is my Fun in the Sun Color Challenge:

My card:

Ok, boys are going crazy, time to get the rascals to bed. Be back to include my supplies later!!!

Makes me happy!

Days like this just make me happy. This sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I can hear children laughing in the distance (my own spent the day with Daddy at work :) I've said it a million times over, I LOVE this time of year!! If I could find this weather all year long, I'd move there in a heartbeat!!!
So, on this happy day, I thought I'd share this happy card.

I made this for last weeks SSC Color Combo Challenge. Here's the inspiration piece:

The colors are so far outside my usual choices & being that I have two boys I hardly ever pull out pinks or purples. I have to admit that this was a blast to make, I guess I can be girly at times :) I'm putting this away until October when I will be sending it out to a sweet little girl named Emma. Her Mommy told me that this card has all of her favorite things, so, it's her's. Now, I'm just hoping I can remember by the time October rolls around.

Off to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!!

Summer Kick-Off!!!

Good morning!!!

Today is our first Monday school-free. It's so nice to be relaxing & not running around making lunches, packing backpacks, snacks, clothes etc :) I'm taking my sweet old time and enjoying the morning.

Did you know we are only one week away from the official start of Summer? How are you going to kick-off your Summer? How about joining us for our "Fun in the Sun" Summer Kick-off celebration?

It sure is going to be a blast...challenges, games, a tutorial...and a RAK for every challenge, WOW!!! A full day jam-packed with fun. If you haven't visited us yet, now is the time :)

Family Post

Well, it's official!! We have made it through another school year, ya-hoo!!! One of my favorite things to do on the last day of school is to compare the boys first day of school pics to their last day. It's amazing how much children change during the course of a school year! I thought it would be fun to post this here for you to see!

First up:

First Day of 1st Grade 8/31/09

Last Day - 6/11/10

I don't actually see a huge change in Conner. He has definitely gotten much taller over the course of the school year. His face is thinning out and really has lost that baby look :(

Next (& last)

First Day of Pre-K 8/24/09

Last Day 6/10/09

This just kills me! Ethan has gone from baby to big boy right before my eyes!!! His face has matured so much, I just can't get over it!!!

I can't wait to get these into my scrapbooks! Do you do anything special to mark the end of a school year? I'd love to hear it if you do :)

Using those scraps

Who has a huge pile of scraps? I know I do, every color, texture, style. I could make cards & layouts using scraps alone for weeks. I have an entire filing cabinet full of scraps! Well, if you are like me, you'll love to hear this...Did you know that SSC now has a weekly Paper Scraps Challenge :) I love this group!! It's amazing what you can do with those scraps.

This weeks challenge is to make a butterfly tree. The DT Gals pulled out all the stops on this one!! It was certainly a CHALLENGE but I think each and every card is amazing. If you haven't stopped by lately, head on over! I promise you will not be disappointed!

Stamp: Beyond Basic Borders
Cardstock: PTI Kraft, White, Spring Moss, MME Wild Asparagus
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Scallop Border Edge, button, MS Butterfly punch, coluzzle

Working w/ Color

I do many Color Combo challenges per month. Some of the colors just seem to go together easily, while others do not. Last weeks SSC Color Challenge was a particularly difficult one for me.

I found this picture on the Martha Stewart website. The colors look fantastic together here, so bright & balanced. Hmmm, once I started trying to put my card together though, I couldn't get it to work! So, I made what I call my "Cheater Card".

A Cheater Card is when I use blocks of colors. Sometimes these block of colors are small squares, sometimes they are rectangles or even circles of solid cardstock. Then I try to balance it out by using pops of colors around my card (such as the ribbon & butterfly). I hope this gives you an idea the next time you are working on a difficult color combo!

What do you do when you are stuck on a color challenge? I'd love to here your suggestions.

Stamp: Beyond Basic Borders
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Paper: SU & PTI
Accessories: Swiss Dot Cuttlebug folder, MS butterfly punch, rhinestones, corner rounder

A little something, 2S4Y style...

Hello, TGIF!!

FYI, my name is no longer Maureen or Mo, you can just call me Little Miss Procrastination lately. Boy, oh, boy...lots to do, but I decided to post on my blog instead, LOL! You see where my priorities are :)

I'm playing along with the sketch at 2S4Y this week.

I really loved this CAS sketch, it's just my style...
I love the summery feel, little ladybugs, leaving a little ladybug trail :) It just makes me happy!!! Red, black & white has to be one of my most favorite color combos, so crisp!!! This was a fairly quick card to make. I first stamped my ladybugs on the white cardstock, then again on red and trimmed & popped them out. I used MTME Fanciful Flourishes for the trails & a sentiment from PTI Everyday Button Bits. Lastly, I made a fun little ribbon treatment by cutting small strips of gingham ribbon and then wrapping them with a polka dot brad. Easy Peasy!!!

Ok, gotta go back to reality...
Have a super weekend :)

Sketchy love

Good morning all! Before we are off & running for the day, I have a little SSC Card Sketch Challenge for you today!!

This sketch was designed by our very own & very talented Amy!

Here's my take:

Since it's June, I was looking for some bright & cheery paper. I came across this PTI goodness in my stash. I can't believe I never used this, what was I waiting for? I cut the flowers out of the paper and adhered them to the scrolly vines I made with MTME Fanciful Flourishes. Finished it all off with a sentiment from So Sentimental and some pearls on the flower centers.

Have a great day!!!

Stamps: MTME Fanciful Flourishes, So Sentimental
Ink: SU! Articoke, Mellow Moss
Paper: SU! Articoke, Moss, PTI White & pp
Accessories, SU punches, pearls

No excuses!

Good Afternoon!!! Long time no see...Ok, no excuses. I haven't posted lately, period. I'm loving the Spring weather, hiking, playing outside, listening to the birds & the peepers as I drift of at night. I figured it is past time to post something here on the blog!

How about some color challenges...

That's all I have for you today. I hope you had a fab Memorial Day weekend :)
