Happy Birthday to you!

Well, hello! Thanks for coming by :) I hope you had a fabulous day today!! I wanted to stop in quick and post a card, since it's been a few days.

This is the birthday card I made for my DT friend Angie and have yet to send out!!! Ugh, I'm so awful, so sorry Angie! One of these days I'll get my act together!! I made this a while ago. I wanted to try a different color combo, something unlike what I normally take out when I paper craft. Here I used Eggplant, Burgandy, Kraft and vintage cream!! I'm lovin this together :) I used lots of sponging with Choc Chip ink, tore the edges a bit and added some ribbon & buttons. I love the end result & the overall vintage feel!!!

Ok, time to chill-ax!

Stamps: OA Thirft Shop, PTI Damask Designs
Paper: Eggplant, Burgandy, Kraft & Vintage Cream
Ink: Eggplant, Burgandy & Choc Chip
Accessories: Ribbon, buttons, sponges

CAS & The Play Date Cafe

Good morning blogging friends,
With mid-summer in full swing, I'm finding myself with less and less stamping time. I squeeze it in when I can. There are so many fabulous challenges out there that is sometimes hard to decide which one to play along with! I decided to combine this week's Clean & Simple Sketch (FTL100) & The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge: Kraft, White, Gray & Black (PDCC39) and came up with this:

I just picked up this Hero Arts stamp this weekend! Don't you just love this bird cage? I am so in love with it and HAD to try it out on this CAS card! Ok, I have to be short & sweet today! Have a good one :)

Stamps: Hero Arts & PTI Everyday Button Bits
Ink: Basic Black, Basic Gray
Paper: PTI White, Kraft, SU! Basic Black & Basic Gray
Accessories: Scallop trim border, gingham ribbon, button, rhinestone

The Rubber Cafe Color Challenge

I just completed my 3rd and last challenge for The Rubber Cafe Design Team. This time it was a color challenge: Red, Blue and Brown.

Here's my Mini Pizza Box:
I found a tutorial at SCS for this adorable Mini Pizza Box and decided to use it along with the color's for this challenge. The tutorial was quite easy to follow and I finished the actual box lickety-split :)

I decorated the box using PTI Star Prints and Fancy Flourishes, a scalloped trim border punch, a button (of course), and lots of paper piercing and sponging. I finished it off with a big bow, because I love bows, and a little something extra to keep the box closed :)

My Mini Pizza Box is filled with Starbursts, a perfect treat for one of my boys to show them how proud of them I am. With back to school right around the corner, this would be the perfect treat for the first day!! Come to think of it, I better make another one!!

Thanks for taking a peek today! I love sharing my goodies with you.

Thank you again to The Rubber Cafe for this wonderful and very fun challenge & opportunity :)

Stamps: Star Prints, Fancy Flourishes
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: PTI Dark Chocolate, White, Kraft, SU Baja Breeze, Real Red

Limelight Sketch

I have a quick post for you today. I'm playing along with the Limelight sketch challenge using rhinestones or gems. I hope pearls count :)

My in-laws have decided to visit today. They were missing the boys so they decided on a last minutes visit :) The are due here in a few minutes. Actually they just pulled in!!!

Gotta run! Hey, what do you think of my blog makeover? Fun, right :)

Rock & Roll

Hello!
I'm a bit behind on posting...I'm sharing last week's card technique: Rock & Roll.

I love this technique, its the first I ever learned way back when I first started stamping at a Stampin' Up! party. It's quite simple with the WOW factor!!!

Here's what you do:

1. Ink up your image (rock it) in a light color.
2. Take your image and roll the edges in a darker color.
3. Stamp your image and you get the effect you can see on my damask print above.

Easy, peasy! Ok, it's your turn...head over to the Card Corner at SSC and give it a try. Every entry into out challenges gets you entered into the monthly RAK!!!

The Rubber Cafe Sketch Challenge

Our second challenge for The Rubber Cafe DT is a sketch challenge. This one really got me to think outside the box!! Here is the sketch:

I had so many different ideas flowing on this. It was hard to narrow down the image/shape or embellie I would use for the circles. Here's my interpretation:

(Please click on photo to see details.)
For my card today, I chose to use my October Afternoon Thrift Shop pad (are you seeing a trend?) along with Vintage Cream & Basic Black Cardstock. The bees were stamped first on the cream cardstock & trimmed, then they were stamped again on the Thrift Shop patterned paper. I trimmed the body from the patterned paper and paper pieced it on my cream bees. As the finishing touch, I lined the wings with a glue pen and sprinkled dazzling diamonds on them. I just couldn't resist the bling factor :) I pulled up the wings a bit to give them a little pop and adhered them with a glue dot. Finally, I added small flourishes to the back of the bees to give the feeling of flight. The sentiment at the bottom is from Hero Arts, doesn't it look like a beehive? PERFECT!!!

***Head on over to The Rubber Cafe blog and vote for me, if you like my card :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! A big shout out to The Rubber Cafe for this awesome opportunity!!!

Stamps: Hero Arts, Gemstone Insects, Fanciful Flourishes
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Basic Black, Vintage Cream, Thrift Shop

Distressed Scraps

I hope you lovely ladies had a wonderful weekend!! We enjoyed lots of outdoor fun & time with each other & friends.
Today I'm sharing a card I made for SSC's Paper Scraps Group. Our challenge was to use our scraps and make a distressed flower. I followed a tutorial by non-other than the very talented Dawn McVey and scraps from my October Afternoon Thrift Shop pad. This bold color palette is a bit out of my norm, but wow, it's great, right!!!
Why don't you give it a try?

Stamp: PTI Damask Designs
Paper: SU! Real Red, Basic Black & OC Thrift Shop pad
Ink: Basic Black & choc chip
Accessories: Chipboard flowers (for tracing), corner rounder, rhinestone brad & sponge

Celebrate

I survived, 5 days with 2 wild boys and what did I do when my hubby got home? Ran up to my stamping room & created this card to celebrate the occasion!!!

If you didn't stop by yesterday, please scroll down to see my announcement!! Thanks!!

TGIF :)

The Rubber Cafe Inspiration

I have some exciting news to share. I recently applied for a DT position at The Rubber Cafe and was chosen as a finalist:) I am participating in challenges for the next 3 weeks when, at the end, 2 of the 6 of us will be chosen. Have you seen their stamps? A-dorable!!!

Our first challenge was to look through the DT creations & be inspired. I found a beautiful CAS card that just spoke to me! Here is the card I designed from the inspiration:

Now, here's the thing, I need YOUR help. There is voting going on on the Design Team Blog and I would love for you to go over and vote for me!! That is, of course, you like my card best ;) You can vote by leaving a comment and naming your favorite!

Click here to see mine and the other inspiration cards.

Thanks!!!

So Special...

Popping in to share a card I made a couple of weeks ago that I never got around to sharing. The large doily image is from OC's Thrift Shop. I used the rock & roll technique and then did lots of sponging with chocolate ink! I seem to be doing a lot of distressing lately, it seems to be the technique of the season for me. That and paper piercing. It seems every project I make lately has either paper piecing, sponging or both :)

Do you have a favorite technique that you find yourself using a lot? I'd love to get some new ideas :) TFL!

Stamps: Hero Arts, Thrift Shop
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, PTI White
Accessories: sponges, scallop trim punch, filigree brad (all SU!)

CAS Celebrate

Boy, I'm loving being home and playing in my stamping room!!! Of course, I only get small snippets of time and do everything in stages, but things are getting finished, photographed & posted, ya-hoo!!!

It's been a while since I played along with the SCS CAS challenge, so that's what I did!! It is an inspiration week & wowzers, is it ever inspiring. I chose a Damask Cake as my inspiration and created this card:

This card is already postal. There are a lot of SSC DT b-day's this month and I've sent this to one lovely lady, I hope she likes it!!!

Thanks for coming by!!

CPS174

Another sketch to get my mojo going...this time CPS (174).

I loved the CAS style of this sketch. Just perfect for me :) I pulled out my fav Thrift Shop Pad & sentiment from Beyond Basic Borders. Lots of paper piercing and came up with this:

Very fitting, being that we just got home from vacay, couldn't resist using the map :) Miss you NC!!!

Stamp: PTI Beyond Basic Borders
Ink: SU! Basic Black
Paper: PTI Kraft & White, OC Thrft Shop
Accessories: Paper piercing mat & tool, SU Circle punch & clip

JUGS40

After being away from my stamps for almost 2 weeks, I was hopping around looking for some inspiration to get my mojo flowing again. I hopped over to Just Us Girls and found a fabulous sketch and a double challenge of using JustRite Stamps. I got right on it.

I flipped the sketch counter clockwise and altered it a bit and came up with this card using the JustRite Self-Inking Monogram Stamper.

I made this for one of my fellow DT Gals at SSC. I don't think she usually visits my blog, well, I hope she doesn't...I wrote a note on a sticky and left the inside blank so she could reuse it :) Gotta love a re-gift!!

I love how girly & feminine these papers are. Kaisercraft pearls were the perfect finishing touch!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp: JustRite Monogram Stamper
Ink: SU! Choc Chip
Paper: SU! Mellow Moss, PTI White, Basic Grey
Accessories: SU! Eyelet Border Punch, Circle, corner & Scallop punches, Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon, Kaisercraft Pearls

Home Sweet Home!

Well, hello! Long time, no see :) My husband and I just returned home from a wonderful week long anniversary vacation, no kids, ahhh!!! It was perfect, fun, relaxing, but I have to say , I'm happy to be home and back to my kids.

I thought I'd pop in today and post some of the SSC Challenges from the last week of June.

First is the Color Challenge. A new feature for this group is a Gallery Inspiration, where Amy and/or I choose a color combo from a member entry. This is what we chose for this month:

My take: I used all but the dark orange color.

Next is the Card Challenge, which also happens to be a color challenge:

I chose to make my own patterned paper using PTI Polka Dot Basics and came up with this baby boy card.

Last, but certainly not least, is Paper Scraps. Our challenge was to use scraps as a frame on a layout or card. Here's mine:

I haven't been into my stamping room in just about 2 weeks, yikes!!! I hope I remember what to do once I finally get there :) Have a great day!!!!
