Signature Style

Have I really not posted since Tuesday? This week just flew by. We are wrapping up the end of the summer and getting ready for the kids to go back to school on Monday! I can't believe it.

CASE Study is finishing out their anniversary month and this weeks challenge is a "Signature Style" challenge, to show your style. I think anyone who visits my blog regularly knows I'm a Clean & Simple girl!!!

I kept the design of my card very simple and added a few touches to make it pop. Using a q-tip I colored the paper airplanes with White Craft ink (a technique I recently learned from a Make it Monday video) and then sponged around the edges. I also did some paper piercing around the
"trails" and drew lines using my black marker and ruler to add some interest to the bottom portion of my card. It helped to add some balance, which my card was lacking at first.

***To those of you on the East Coast of the US, as Irene approaches, my thoughts are with you.

Thanks for coming by!!! Maureen

All about Scallops!

Thanks for coming by today!

We've just posted the newest challenge at StampNation...Scallops! There are so many possibilities for this one...scallop trim, punches, die cuts, even making your own Faux Scallop Border. There is a video tutorial on how to do that, along with over 70 more at StampNation! We are gearing up for a Virtual Party on September 1st, so make sure you hop on over there before then!!!

I hope to see you there!

Handmade Embellies

Have you stopped by The Outlawz lately? If you head over there today, you'll see that the new CAS Challenge is up!!! This week the challenge is to make your own embellishment.

To make my flower embellishment I used my Scallop Circle punch and punched out 5 scallops. Next, I crumbled each one into a ball, unrolled them and stacked them while staggering the scallops. Then, I tied a button using Linen thread through the scallops. Finally, I crumbled each layer toward the center a bit to make this quick and easy embellie! Oh, and the leaves...they were made using a circle punch. I punched a circle, then put half of the circle back into my punch to make the leaf shape. Do that make sense? Let me know, I can do a quick tutorial if you'd like me too!

I hope you'll make your own embellishment and use it on a CAS creation today!!!

Life is a song

Happy Saturday to you! I'm sharing a cheery card with you today, a color combo I am loving at the moment!!! Isn't it divine?! I've combined The Outlawz Paper a la mode challenge & the Ippity challenge...banners! I love this trend!! I simply traced a triangle on 2 different patterned papers, then trimmed them and adhered them to my card base using dimensionals. From SU! Bakers Twine, I tied small bows and adhered them to the ends of the banner. I added a small strip of patterned paper to the bottom of the card and wrapped bakers twine around the base twice. Lastly I stamped my sentiment and made a little banner there two. Oh, and who could forget the button :)

So much fun. I hope this card brighten your day!

SCS Challenges

This has been the busiest week on record, geez Louise!!!! In a little over a week, I'll probably be longing for the crazy lifestyle of running around with my family, but today, I am just exhausted! I'm actually happy it started raining this afternoon!

Looking to make a card, I turned to Splitcoast for some quick inspiration! My card combines two of the challenges this week; the CAS challenge (CAS131) to use partial images & the Color Combo (CC336) Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride & Wisteria Wonder. (I replaced Blushing Bride with Pretty in Pink.) I had fun playing around with these doilies, they make card making a snap :)

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Word Play
Ink: Sahara Sand, Wisteria Wonder, Pretty In Pink
Paper: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Dotted Ribbon Border Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Basic Pearls, Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon

Another Birthday!

Busy week here, headed out in a bit for the Elementary Orientation. I wanted to stop in quickly though and share this card I made for my FIL who is celebrating his birthday today :) I kept it very CAS and nautical, he lives at the beach and loves boating & fishing. I thought this design was perfect for him. I hope he likes it!

Happy birthday Ken! Have a great day :)

Taking a quick break from the Happy Trails cards. I'm actually waiting for the sun to come out so that I can get a good photo of my card. We've had so much rain that we're going to have to build an ark to get out of here!!! I have to say, the weather this summer has stunk! Once September comes I start stressing over the fact that winter is coming and I swear it just left.
ok, Moving on...

I decided to try my hand at watercoloring again. I'm no pro, but I certainly have fun with it! I don't think you have to be a pro to make a card that looks nice!!! To watercolor this image from Growing Green, I simply squeezed my ink pads while they were closed & then opened the ink pad and used the ink in the lid to color. It's that easy!!!

Do you have any tips on watercoloring and how to get the best result? I'd love for you to share!

Have a good one!

Happy Trails - Part 2

I'm back with my second "Happy Trails" card. This time I've made a feminine OLC card, using shades of purple (Wisteria Wonder & Elegant Eggplant). A different color palette for me. This card will be for my cousins bridal shower and I pulled the colors from her wedding invitation.

I used the Rock & Roll technique on two of the butterflies by stamping them first in Wisteria Wonder, then rolling them in Elegant Eggplant. Aren't they so pretty?! I finished them off by placing a rhinestone in the center of each butterfly. I layered two sentiments on the bottom right side to balance the butterfly images on the left.

I have one more card to show you tomorrow using this set. Stay tuned!

Happy Trails - Part 1

I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. We were supposed to go Blueberry picking today but the farm was low on blueberries :( Instead we packed up all of our bikes and went our first family mountain bike ride. I'll tell you, I just about had a heart attack watching my kids ride next to huge drop-offs along the trail...they are only 6 1/2 & 8!!! Seriously, I can't handle this stuff!!! I have a feeling that in a year or so, I may just want to stay home!!! FYI, we made it home in one piece.

The real reason I'm dropping in is to share this CAS "just a note" card. It was inspired by the Clean & Simple Stamping (FTL153) /CAS-Fridays (CFS#15) Sketch. I changed the orientation and kept my focal panel one color. I love the simplicity of this card. In fact, when I finished this card I continued stamping and made three more. I'll be sharing them over the next few days, so make sure you come by again soon!

Beau Chateau Suite

Wow, is it REALLY Friday?! This week flew by! We spent the beginning of the week in Mystic, CT. It was a fabulous trip. I'll share pics soon :)

I arrived home to some new SU! goodies. I like to wait a bit before ordering from the new catalogs. I like to see samples start popping up on blogs & in galleries, then I can see what is really appealing to me. There are always so many new stamp sets and being on a budget, I unfortunately can't have them all. So, I wait...and you know what I found? I am head over heels about the new Beau Chateau Suite! The dsp, the side notes & the Creative Elements stamp set were in my order and all were used on this card. The soft colors and gorgeous patterns, the flexibility of the Creative Elements stamp set, I just couldn't wait to play with them all!

I think you'll be seeing a lot more of the Beau Chateau Suite in the coming weeks!!!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday!

I'm stopping in today to share this card that I made for my Mother-in-law, who is celebrating her birthday today :) Happy Birthday Lois!

My card was heavily inspired by last weeks CASE Study Challenge 50!!! Maybe we should call it a lift, instead of a CASE!!! I just loved the colors & layout, I had to use them in my own card.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!!!

For all you do...

Yipee!!! TGIF Ladies & Gentlemen!!!

I'm playing along with the CASE Study Anniversary Challenge (CSC51) this week. PS- Did you see I won last week? heehee!!! The challenge is to CASE any of the current or past designers. I chose this card by the very talented Cristina Kowalczyk. I love her Clean and graphic style.

For my card, I cut 3/4 of an inch strips of Pool Party, Calypso Coral & Wisteria Wonder cardstock. Using removable adhesive, I adhered the strips to my grid paper and stamped them with the smallest flower image in the Fabulous Floret stamp set in Jet Black Stazon ink. Then I removed the strips from my grid paper and adhered them to my Whisper White cardbase. I stamped my sentiment, from the stamp set For All You Do, in the same ink and punched it with my 1 3/8 circle punch. I matted it on a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I punched using my Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it using dimensionals.

Thanks for the inspiration Cristina!
