Birthday Wishes

Dawn posted this awesome sketch on her blog the other day.

Isn't it fun?  The banners & shapes...well, I'll tell you, I have been racking my brain for the past couple of days trying to figure out how to include so much detail into a card that remains true to my CAS style.  I first tried a one layer card with masking, but wasn't really thrilled with the outcome.  Then I remembered a new Lily Bee paper pad that I got last week and started flipping through the papers.  I noticed that the patterns in the paper coordinate perfectly with the patterns on the hearts in Heartfelt Mix, it's like they were made to go together!  The rest pretty much fell into place from there.

It felt good to step outside my comfort zone for a little bit.  Thanks for the inspiration Dawn.

Stamps:  Heartfelt Mix, Label Layers 4, Very Vintage Greetings (Wplus9)
Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze (SU!)
Paper:  White (Wplus9), Real Red (SU), Handmade patterned paper (Lily Bee)
Accessories:  Label Layers 4 Die, Hearts Die, Folk Art Florals (Wplus9), Bakers Twine (SU!), Button (PTI), Rhinestones

Fantastic job with the sketch! I've been too chicken to give it a try, but you really kept it looking fresh and clean with the white base and perfect choice of papers.
