Hugs & Kisses

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.  Ours has been um... eventful to say the least!

Today I am playing along in the CASE Study Challenge, to be inspired by this card by Julia Stainton.

I was inspired by the crimped paper, colors and large leafy images and tried to incorporate all of them into my card.  A bit of a nontraditional color combo for Christmas, but I think it works!

I am also entering my card into the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

We are in the path of Hurricane Sandy which is supposed to arrive here on Monday.  If predictions are correct I will most probably be without power for several days.  I will be preposting my entries for this week.  I hope everyone in the path of the storm is safe!!!  I hope to be back soon!

Ink:  Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Early Espresso (SU!)
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake (SU!)

Mass producing

Up until last year, I always mass produced my Christmas cards.  I came up with one design, then started cutting, stamping and assembling.  Honestly, I hated every minute of it!!!  It felt like a chore and really stiffled my creativity.  So, last year I started early and was able to make ALMOST every card special and unique.  In the end I only had to mass produce 15, which was better than 75!!!!  This year though, I think I'm going to make it.  With 2 full months before Christmas, I only have 22 cards left to make :)

Many crafters enjoy mass producing though.  I've heard others find it therapeutic and relaxing.  Along the way even I discovered some tips and techniques to make the process easier, yet still enabling me to produce stunning cards.  This is all included in my latest entry in the Clean & Simple Classroom at StampNation.  StampNation is an online community of papercrafters from around the world!  (Literally, we just had the newest international member join from Belgium!)  There are now 250 video tutorials, written tutorials, challenges and SO much more!  If you haven't joined yet, click here to learn more!

Have a good one!

Hello

There are very few things in life that I couldn't live without.  My camera is definitely one of them.  This morning I had a major camera malfunction and I was sweating it out BIG time.  Thankfully it has resolved itself and I am able to take pictures once again.  Phew!

Today's card was inspired by the CASE Study Challenge #113.  To CASE this card...

I love orange and pink together, LOVE it.  So that's where I went with my inspiration.  I was also inspired by the background stamping and repeating circles that are seen throughout Julia's design!  Julia Stainton is a stamping goodess, it's so much fun to CASE her.  Even though her style is so different than mine, all of the fabulous details make it easy :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Stamps:  Lacey & Lovely (SU!)
Paper:  White (WPlus9 Design Studio)

Two for Tuesday

I got a bit busy yesterday afternoon and forgot to post here on my blog, so today I have two cards for you.  The first one is my interpretation of the Retro Sketches Challenge this week.  I've been wanting to hang stockings from this clothesline since I got it and this sketch provided me with the perfect opportunity!

Next up is this weeks card for Nathan.  You can read about Nathan and his story here

My card design was inspired by another of Cristina Kowalczyk's cards in the Holiday Cards & More issue of PaperCrafts Magazine.  You can see her card on page 56.  I started with Cristina's general layout.  I loved the simplicity of her card, with the image in the upper third and the sentiment directly below it.   I decided to add a bit more to my card being that it was for a little boy, I thought it would be more appealing to him with some glitter and plaid paper :)

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Season's Greetings

If you are just stopping in for the first time, I have been using the Holiday Cards & More issue of PaperCrafts magazine to inspire my cards for the past few days.  A fellow blogger Lynn was doing this on her blog and I thought it was a great idea, so I decided to do the same.  Today's card is a CASE of one of Lynn's that appeared on pg 15.   This is one of the cards that really jumped out at me when I fist flipped through the magazine.  Her card is so perfectly CAS that I didn't change anything, the layout, colors and embellishments are the same, I just used different stamps.

To keep my images perfectly aligned, I used my ruler to make three very light pencil lines on my card.  I measured in one inch from the left and drew a line every half inch.  Once all of my images were stamped, I went back and erased my lines.

I have a few more cards lined up for this week that were inspired by Holiday Cards & More, including my next card for Nathan!

Have a good one!

Stamps:  Fair Isle Backgrounds (WPlus9), More Merry Messages (SU!)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler & Jet Black Stazon
Paper:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Rhinestones

Christmas Heart

I'm definitely in a Christmas card making mood!  I went through my stamp collection and put all things Christmas in a bin on my desk so that they are easily reachable and so I don't forget about anything!  Christmas cards are my favorite to make, though I usually burn out by Thanksgiving :)

I'm continuing to be inspired by the Holiday Cards & More issue of PaperCrafts.  This time by Cristina on page 83.  The gingham print on the bottom, the cute little rhinestones on the tree and the sentiment on the left side of the card inspired me in my design.

I used a new stamp set from WPlus9!  I love the Pretty Patches series, and this little tree is no exception!  I paired it with a background stamp from Country Charm.  I think I'll be doing that a lot this holiday season!

This card is being entered into the CAS-Fridays Challenge.

Have a great weekend!

Joy

I'm following Lynn's lead by using the PaperCrafts Holiday Cards & More issue to inspire me.  I am finding this issue to be my favorite, ever!  Today's card was inspired by Maile's card on pg. 16.

Ink:  Real Red, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive (SU!)
Paper:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red (SU!)

Cloud9 October Blog Hop

It's time for another Cloud9 Blog Hop!!!!

Now, I have mentioned here on my blog that I am not a huge fan of Halloween.   Actually I am not a fan at all!  You see Fall cards here, usually not Halloween though!  But, there is something about polka dot pumpkins that really makes me happy :)  I drew my inspiration from those polka dots and created this card...

Another card for Nathan

If you are wondering who Nathan is, I posted his story last week.  To learn more, you can read this post here.  His story is unfortunately like so many others out there and being a mom of young children it rips my heart in two.  I keep thinking about that little boy and his family.  I can't do much to help, but if I can make that little boy smile once a week,  that makes me feel good!  So, that is what I'll do, I'll send him a card once a week.

I had told my boys about Nathan, they asked a lot of questions and thought it was nice to send a card.  My oldest (Conner) is very sensitive and got upset that I didn't let him SIGN the card.  I honestly didn't think he'd care THAT much and I was in a rush to get it in the mail.  So, this weeks card for Nathan is signed by Conner only.  I think it made him feel good too!

If you'd like to send Nathan a Christmas card, here's his mailing info...

A card for Nathan

When I heard the story of Nathan, a five year old boy fighting cancer (his third round since the age of one), my heart ached.   http://www.wset.com/story/19657190/boy-fighting-cancer-with-the-spirit-of-ch

Nathan asked his parents if they could put up the Christmas tree and his parents did, on September 26th (my bday :)  Friends and family followed suit and now Nathan is receiving cards and gifts by the dozen.

I am going to help Nathan celebrate Christmas in October.  Will you join me?

If you would like to help Nathan celebrate Christmas too, you can send a card here:

I wish I could include a hug in the envelope too!

My friend Catherine is also helping Nathan celebrate Christmas.  She will be sending him a moving or fancy fold card each week.  I bet that will make him smile :)  Look how cute her card is!  You may view her video here:  http://www.catherinepooler.com/2012/10/nathans-spinning-gingerbread-with-the-scentsational-seasons-stamp-set/
