CASE Study DT Search Challenge

I thought I'd throw in an entry for the CASE Study Design Team search. Our challenge is to choose our own muse and CASE her (or him). We were to choose a card that isn't exactly our style and create a card that IS. Are you still with me? Chupa explains it better than me here.

Deciding on my Muse wasn't easy! I immediately went to Cristina's blog, then Maile's, but thought my style was too close to theirs so I set off to Dawn McVey's blog. Dawn was the first stamper that I started following back in the day. I've always loved and admired her use of color. I think of her cards as CAS with a splash :)

After getting lost on her blog for a while, I finally decided on this card to CASE.

The first detail I wanted to pull from this card was the row of images on the bottom section of the card. I was also drawn to the green & blue, large sentiment and decorative edge. Looking at the two cards together, I'm not so sure you can tell my card is a CASE of Dawn's, but I guess that's the point.

I'm starting this week off with a simple, OLC. I used some new to me stamps from Paper Smooches. After seeing all of Lynn's creations with them, I couldn't resist any longer :)

It's Your Birthday!

This card has me SO excited. See that chevron pattern? The stamp is actually one row of chevrons (you can see the stamp set here), but my design has a bit of a twist. I stamped it once, then flipped it upside down and stamped it again directly over the original image. Isn't that such a fun pattern? I'm not one to usually make discoveries like this (maybe someone else has done it already, just let me think I'm the only one :) Yay, happy day for me!!

Boy, it's been quiet here on my blog lately. Sorry about that! I think I am still trying to catch up from being away. That'll change soon (hopefully starting today) and I'll be back to posting regularly :)

This card was inspired by Mood Board Monday #9. I have missed the last few weeks and really wanted to get back to it! This weeks mood board reminded me of a picnic.

FSS April Release - Mother Knows Best

I immediately fell in love with this sweet watering can image. I've stamped and trimmed it out, then filled it with flowers.

FSS April Release - On Trend 2013

It's day one of the Fresh Squeezed Stamps April Release. Today I have the pleasure of introducing "On Trend 2013" a set full of trendy images, everything that is HOT and NOW in paper crafting!

Using the Gradient Stamping technique, I stamped the paint splotches/watercolors haphazardly. Then using black ink stamped over them with the "create" stamp. I added some heat embossed sequins for a little added interest and fun!

Birthday Poppies

If you were wondering how the StampNation LIVE event was, it was FANTASTIC! I had such a wonderful and relaxing weekend. It was amazing to be in a room with so many women that share my passion. I've never experienced anything like it. I'm already looking forward to next year :) I'll share some of what I did while I was there later this week.

Today I have a card that I made for this weeks StampNation Sketch Challenge.

I used the MFT Pretty Poppies & Distressed Diamonds Stamp Sets and Poppies & Leaves dies. I paired them with some of the dies included in Blueprints 1 to make a little embellishment in the upper left corner to balance out my card.

Berry Best Wishes

As you read this I am making the 8 1/2 hour drive to Raleigh, NC for StampNation LIVE, a 3 day stamping retreat!!! THREE DAYS of no dishes, cleaning, vacuuming, cooking...just stamping...heaven!!!! I have been preparing for this event like a crazy lady :) I will have lots to share when I get home!!!

I will be working on Project Life, The History Project and making cards for Operation Write Home while at the event. I also plan to set aside some time for soaking in the NC sunshine. I've been stalking the weather down there, hoping and praying that it's warmer than PA.

My card today is for this weeks challenge at StampNation, to use score lines. I used my Diagonal Plate to create and subtle background for my card. I'm a bit obsessed with adding iridescent ice embossing powder to the berries in this stamp set. I'm pretty sure I CASE'd (stole) that idea from Dawn ;)
