Gradient Stamping

I admit to being antsy.  I can't sit still for long without jumping up to do something, anything!  So when I saw that one of the videos for Day 3 of Clean & Simple Card Making 2 was 18+ minutes long I thought, "No way!".  However, the video featured Gradient Stamping and the samples really blew me away.  I decided the press play and hang in as long as I could...18+ minutes later and I was running to my desk hoping I could use this technique successfully!

Here's what I made:

Eeek, how fun is this?!

I have to let you in on a little secret...this was made with only three ink pads, THREE!!!!

Plan on seeing this technique a lot in the near future.  I'm a bit obsessed with it :)

Stamps:  Casual Elegance (CAS-ual Fridays)
Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Elegant Eggplant (SU!)
Paper:  Whisper White & Elegant Eggplant (SU!)
Accessories: Corner Rounder (CM), Rhinestone

Clean & Simple Card Making 2

I tried to resist the newest Online Card Class, Clean & Simple Card Making 2, but just couldn't.  I'm a few days behind but excited to catch up.  Day One's "homework" was to use one of the sketches as a jumping off point.  I used Kristina's sketch and didn't stray much from it.

I combined stamps from CAS-ual Fridays and Wplus9 on my card today.  I added the pop of yellow to match my new blog design.  Did you notice that I got a facelift here on the blog??  I am in love with it...it's so crisp and clean and so ME, don't you think?!

Stamps:  Woot Woot (Cas-ual Fridays Stamps), Super Star (Wplus9)
Ink:  So Saffron (SU!), True Black (PTI)
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, So Saffron (SU!)
Accessories:  Banner Trio (Wplus9), Circle Punch (SU!)

CASology Week #29 - Game

It's Tuesday and that can only mean one thing,
a new Cue Word at CASology!

This week the Cue Word is...

Since Fresh Squeezed Stamps is Sponsoring this week
I thought it was fitting that I used one of their sets...Games People Play.

It's a great set with so many possibilities.

I don't normally use such bright colors, but in small doses it definitely works in CAS design.
And what a bright and cheery way to let someone know you are sorry!

Hop on over to CASology to play along and visit the rest of the team to see how they were inspired by GAME.

10 Minute Craft Dash #10

I didn't think I'd ever participate in the 10 Minute Craft Dash!  I'm too particular, indecisive and well, anal!  Yup, I fuss and fuss to get every last detail perfect.  Trying to get a card completed in 10 minutes seemed like a daunting task!  After watching Dawn's video though, I picked up a few tricks that made the task seem almost doable!  The thing that stuck with me most was...stick to stamping & stay away from die cuts...got it!

This was the challenge:

Pink, Green, Gray...my first thought was baby.  So I shuffled through my stamps until I came across Heartfelt Mix.  Perfect!  I grabbed my ink pads, and some white cardstock and got busy.

I started at 8:03 and would have finished at 8:10, but that is the exact minute that I dropped my top layer right on my Certainly Celery ink pad...gasp!  I always close my inks after I'm done with each color, but to save time I left them all open.  It took about 3 more minutes to play with my bakers twine so I could strategically cover up my ink splotch.  All in all, it was a success.  A fun challenge that I might take on again.  Next time I'll remember to close my ink pads!

Stamps:  Heartfelt Mix (Wplus9 Design)
Ink:  Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray (SU!)
Paper:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Corner Rounder (CS), Baker's Twine (SU!)

Birthday & Anniversary Wishes

I have met some amazing people in the great world of blogging and papercrafting!  Today I get to help celebrate two of them.

First is my dear friend Catherine.  We met almost 2 1/2 year ago in an online crafting community and have been friends ever since.   I have had the pleasure of meeting up with Catherine twice in person and we always have a blast.  The next get together in in the works & I can't wait for it!!

Catherine is the founder/creator of StampNation.  Today at StampNation we surprised her with a challenge dedicated to her.  The challenge was to CASE one of her cards and make a birthday card for her :)  Here's my Catherine CASE:

Next is an anniversary wish for Darnell.  Darnell is such a wonderful papercrafter, not only in her creativity but in how she leaves sweet comments and encouragement all around the blogging world daily!  Darnell has brightened so many of my days with her kind words, so today I am giving back to her.

Darnell, Congrats to you and Mister on celebrating your 42nd wedding anniversary.  May you have many more years of happiness together.  Sending you love on your anniversary.

I unfortunately do not have a scanner to include on of my wedding photos, like many of the girls are doing.  That is a wonderful idea though for my anniversary in July this year!  Someone remind me :)

CASology Week #27 - Blue

It's time for another CASology Cue Card Word.

For my card I used shades of blue to make a bold background.
My stamps are by Avery Elle who is sponsoring this weeks challenge!

Make sure you visit the rest of the DT to see how they used "Blue" this week.

Round of Applause!

I am always excited to see what the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge is going to be each week!  It know I'll find something fun and different!  This week it's:

To make a CAS card that celebrates an accomplishment and uses at least one circle.  I used a few more than one :)  I started by stamping the circle border from Big Thanks in Pool Party ink, then filled in with smaller circles from PTI's Polka Dot Background. The sentiment is from Woot Woot, I love the fun and trendy sentiments included in that set!!

I think this card will go to Conner for receiving the Student of the Month award for December :)
Way to go buddy!!

Banner Love

Most years Valentine's Day comes and goes without a ton of hoopla here in my house.  Doug and I have never really been ones to celebrate it.  This year though, I am really digging making Valentine's Day cards.  I have a feeling I'll be sending out quite a few this year.  Maybe I'll even convince my hubby to celebrate.

I made this card for this weeks CASE Study challenge.  This month's must is Amber Kemp-Gerstel and I just LOVE her style :)

**Please excuse my terrible photography but we had very little sun today!

Stamps:   Banner Love, Quite Like You (Wplus9 Design Studio)
Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Rose Red (SU!) True Black (PTI)

FSS- Release Week Day 4

Today is the last day of the Fresh Squeezed Stamps release week.  If you haven't stopped by the FSS blog, I encourage you to do so.  There are some great new release being previewed over there, chances to win the new stamp sets, as well as some over the top creations by the design team!  All stamps will be available in the FSS store tomorrow :)

I have the pleasure of showing you Subway Series: Spring.  I used the Valentine's Day stamp, but included in the set are also stamps for St. Patrick's Day and Easter.  To create a two toned image I first inked up the stamp in pink ink, then using a red marker I colored portions of the image directly on the stamp.  Before stamping I huffed on my stamp to moisten the ink.  You could do this to highlight any of the words or images.  It will give your stamped image a new look every time!

Now head over to the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog to see the full set, samples by the design teams and enter for a chance to win Subway Series:  Spring!

Stamps:  Subway Series:  Spring (Fresh Squeezed Stamps)
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Real Red Marker (SU!)

CASology #26 - Winter

It's time for a new cue word at CASology.

I am forever cold in the Winter.  Most days you can find me layered in fleece, wearing my Uggs and drinking lots of hot tea and coffee...anything to get warm!  That's where my inspiration for this card came from.

How does the word Winter inspire you?

Head on over to CASology to see how the rest of the Design Team was inspired!

Stamps:  Coffee Cozy (Lil Inker), Purls of Wisdom (PTI)
Ink:  Crumb Cake & Cherry Cobbler (SU!)
Paper:  Whisper White, Crumb Cake (SU!)
Accessories:  Coffee Cozy dies (Lil Inker), Seasonal Sentiments (Wplus9) Bakers Twine (SU!), Rhinestone

Big Thanks!

A quick card for this weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

To make this card, I used the Big Thanks stamp set by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and some American Crafts patterned paper that I picked up this weekend.  I love the neutral colors and trendy patterns included in this collection.  I'm working to replenish my thank you card supply and I'm always short on masculine cards, so this fits both :)

I hope your week is off to a great start!!!

FSS Release Week - Day One

It's release week at Fresh Squeezed Stamps!  Today I get the pleasure of introducing to you "Hot, Hot, Hot"  a fun set dedicated to our love of tea and coffee.

I used the tea cup image to create a clean and graphic card.  I stamped the image repeatedly up the left side of my card, then paired it with a really fun sentiment based on the ever popular "Keep Calm" trend!

Want to see more?  Head on over to the Fresh Squeezed blog where you'll get to see the full set, as well as samples by some of the other Design Team Members.  There you will also find a chance to win Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

What's "NEW"?

It seems "NEW" is a pretty popular theme around challenge blogs this month.  I posted one variation of "New" on Tuesday for my CASology sample.  Today I have my sample for this weeks StampNation challenge:

"In honor of the New Year, make a card using something NEW."

The minute I saw this die and all of the coordinating products, I knew I had to have them.  Back in the Spring of last year we said goodbye to my Grandmother, an avid knitter.  This product line screams Gramma and reminds me of all of the sweaters and blankets, ponchos, hats, scarves, etc...she made for me, my sister, my children and everyone else who touched her life over the years.  She would sit for hours in the Winter knitting afghans that kept her lap warm while she worked.  While in the Summer she made baby caps to donate to newborns at the local hospital.  She always had something in her knitting bag, usually a few projects she was working on.

This product line brings back so many memories!  Funny how a stamp set could mean so much, right?!!!

Stamps: Purls of Wisdom (PTI)
Ink: Early Espresso (SU!)
Paper: Whisper White (SU!), Patterned Paper (PTI)
Accessories: Sweater Die & button (PTI), Heart (Wplus9), Bakers Twine (SU!), Marker for faux stitching
