It's Tuesday and that means it's time for a new CASology Cue Card!
This week's word...
After last weeks word, this one was a breeze :)
I used a combination of circles on my card today. I started by stamping the polka dots from FSS You Said It, Sister set in So Saffron ink. Then I stamped over them using a border stamp from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. Layering stamps is a great way to create a fun and unique focal point to your card!
I hope you'll join us this week. I can't wait to see your cards for this weeks challenge! The design team has some great interpretations of CIRCLE, so visit them too for even more inspiration!
As I mentioned yesterday, I'm not much of a technique junkie. I try them here and there but usually stick to just straight on stamping. Catherine posted a video on StampNation a while ago using an Inlaid Die Cutting technique. I thought the results were beautiful and the technique itself is easy enough to incorporate into so many designs and styles. Above is my sample for this weeks challenge at StampNation, Inlaid Die Cutting.
Yup, I'm still on a Rosie Posie kick ;)
Stamps: Rosie Posie (PTI) Ink: Baja Breeze, Pool Party, Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade (SU) Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White (SU!) Accessories: Rosie Posie dies (PTI), Framelits die (SU!), Rhinestones
How I got from lace, buttons and flowers to a masculine card is beyond me. I think I pulled out Country Charm because of that little plaid pinking square? Who knows! But once I started stamping the strips it just feel like a guy card to me.
What's your favorite technique? Are you a technique junkie or do you steer clear of them like me?
Stamps: Country Charm, Label Layers 4 (Wplus9 Design Studio) Ink: Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral (SU!) Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy (SU!) Accessories: Label Layers 4 die (Wp9), Corner Rounder (CM)
After much deliberation I went with the colors of a flame. As an added bonus I stumbled upon my Quilt Cuts die while looking through my supplies, quilts keep you warm (flames are hot right) AND this sentiment tied it all together perfectly!
I hope that you will try this one. The design team has some great interpretations of FLAME, so visit them too for more inspiration!
We are having a lazy Sunday here at the Merritt's house. We ended this crazy week having some boys over to celebrate Conner's 10th birthday (yikes, double digits!). Boys are exhausting and SO loud. After about 5 minutes Doug and I were looking at each other like, "What have we done?" It was a wonderful reminder of why we don't do it all the time. Luckily we had planned pizza and a movie, so for 90 minutes they were calm and quiet!! But as soon as the credits started rolling someone yelled, "LET'S GO TO THE BASEMENT!!!" Barreling down the stairs they all went. Thank goodness for our finished basement.
Anywho, I'm sure you aren't here to discuss the insanity of boys! You are here to see a card, right?!
I was excited to see that Dawn was starting up a regularly scheduled challenge called Mood Board Monday. Look at this gorgeous inspiration...
My initial inspiration came from the two circles on the cork board. I knew I'd use some kind of label frame with an embellishment in the bottom left. Then I pulled the colors from the card to the left of the cork board. It had been a while since I'd used Mother's Day Bouquet and I thought it fit in perfectly with this color scheme!
I'm looking forward to more inspiration from the Monday Mood Board (even if sometimes I don't get to it until Friday)!
Stamps: Label Layers 4, Mother's Day Bouquet (Wp9) Ink: Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Pool Party Accessories: Label Layers 4 die (Wplus9), Tasteful Trim & Bakers Twine (SU!)
Today is going to be CRAZY...conferences, grocery shopping, class party, new glasses for E, etc...I'm tired just thinking about it! Before I am off and running I wanted to share with you the treat bags I made for my boys for their Valentine's goodies. Thanks to Catherine and her awesome video on StampNation, I whipped these up in under 10 minutes.
I am pretty sure that I have made more Valentine's cards this year than any other Valentine's Day in the past. It must be all these darn cute stamps I keep buying!!!
My card today is my sample for the StampNation sketch this week:
This was a fun sketch to work with. I think I'm going to file this one away to use again! It's a great base that can be used as is or added to. The circles provide endless opportunities for images, punches or dies in any shape!

Stamps: Cupid's Arrow & Background Builders Hearts (Wplus9) Hearts a Flutter (SU!) Ink: Rose Red, Pink Pirouette (SU!), True Black (PTI) Paper: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black (SU!) Accessories: Cupid's Arrow dies (Wp9), Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Bakers Twine (SU!), Corner Rounder (CM)
I hope you aren't getting sick of Rosie Posie yet, because I can NOT put this stamp set down!
I'm playing along again with the PTI 6th Anniversary Celebration. Today's card was inspired by one of Cristina's all time favorite PTI projects. I have been a fan of Cristina's forever. I am continually amazed with her talent and eye for CAS perfection! I knew I'd have to make a card inspired by her :)
I didn't have the supplies to create a card just like Cristina's, so I put a bit of a twist on her design. I chose to use the same color combo and took her lead by stamping my sentiment in COLOR, not black!
I hope your week is off to a great start. See you tomorrow for a new CASology Cue Card.
Stamps: Rosie Posie (PTI), Quite Like You (Wplus9)
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Old Olive (SU!)
Paper: Very Vanilla (SU!)
Accessories: Circle Stackers (Wplus9), Linen Thread (SU!), rhinestones
I make a ton of stuff over one or two days, then nothing for a few.
I'm getting a bit backed up here on my projects so I have quite a few to share with you today.
I haven't done quite as much as I had wanted to for the Clean & Simple Card Making class. I did get to try Kristina's Offset Stamping Technique. I've done this before, but always using the same color. This was fun to try for something a bit different.
My next card is for the Papertrey Ink 6th anniversary. The challenge was to create a card inspired by one of the PTI designers. I chose a card by Danielle Flanders. Rosie Posie is currently my favorite stamp set and Danielle's card basically screamed at me; the colors, details and layout of her card are just perfect! I hope I did it justice!
I'm hopping along with the Cloud9 Blog Hop! I missed it last month and was determined to join in this month!
We have this cute collection to inspire us for this month's blog hop:
I've been trying to figure out what to make for the kids teachers for Valentine's Day and the inspiration piece helped my decide. I used the Wplus9 pillow boxes and some hearts stamps and dies to recreate some of the designs on these cute kids projects.
For this first pillow box I used the Clear Cut Stackers: Heart and die cut it from Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Then I embellished the heart with images from Heartfelt Mix and Cupids Arrow.
This second package uses the smaller heart from Heartfelt Mix.
Both boxes are filled with candy. My kids keep telling me how much their teachers love chocolate, so I keep sending it in :)
Welcome to Day 3 of the Fresh Squeezed Stamps February Release! If you missed Day One and/ or Day Two, make sure you head right over to the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog to catch up!
Today I have a super cute set to introduce, Hootie Who? Owls are all the rage right now and this set certainly hits the market right on trend! It comes with several different owls that can be paired with sentiments for "owl" occasions!
Neon colors are just about everywhere these days, it feels like the 80's again :) So I figured, "why not neon owls?", right? My card is appropriate for just about "owl" occasions and recipients young and old. (Sorry, I can't help myself :) I loved the idea of lining these owls up and pairing them with the "From Owl of us" sentiment! Or, I could have used the "Owl Stand by You".
Now, head on over to the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog to see the full set, more samples from the Design Team and enter for a chance to win this set!!!
Today is the second day of the February Release over at Fresh Squeezed Stamps. Make sure to pop over and see that awesome set that was introduced yesterday, Weather Through.
I have the pleasure today of introducing a fun set called Trendy Triangles! This set is exactly as the name describes. Each triangle is a different and trendy pattern, like the patterns I've use below and more (um, animal print!!!)
Let's take a look:
I wanted to use Trendy Triangles to make a really clean and graphic card. It was imperative that I get the triangles lined up just right. Using a ruler and pencil, I drew a line across the bottom of my card and used that as my guide as I stamped. Once my pattern was complete I erased the pencil mark and adhered my sentiment, also from Trendy Triangles. I just love the combination of fonts!

Stop by again tomorrow when I have another new FSS set to help introduce!
See you then!
