I'll be back tomorrow with Part 2, see you then!

Teacher Gifts - Part 3

This is the last of my teacher gifts for Christmas this year.  Ethan's teacher had Conner last year, so she's already received a thank you card set from me.  I wanted to do something different for her.  My initial plan was to arm-knit a scarf, but after getting all tangled up and frustrated, I thought I better stick with cards :)  My monogrammed wreath was inspired by Chunyuan's cards here.  I loved the colors and simplicity of hers and saw no reason to mess with perfection!

I hope you've enjoyed the holiday season!  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Winter Wreath, Oh Happy Day (Avery Elle) Monogrammed (Wplus9)
Ink:  Gumball Green (MFT), Hibiscus Burst, Hawaiian Shores (PTI) Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso (SU)
Paper:  Whisper White (SU)
Accessories:  Scoring Tool, Rhinestones

CASE Study #172

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
While you are unwinding, maybe you'll have a chance to play along in our challenge.

It is our last week of Moxie Fab inspirations :(
This has been such a fun twist on the CASE Study Challenges!

This one really had me stumped!  I'm not really a lacey kind of girl.
But, I DO love flowers!

I pulled my colors from the inspiration, not a color palette I would normally use,
but I love the way this turned out.

Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
Then head to your craft room and link up to CASE Study.  I can't wait to see what you make!

**My Stamps for Sale Page has been updated with LOTS of stamps!  Check it out here!!

Stamps:  Fresh Picked Florals, Very Vintage Florals (Wplus9) Another Thank You (SU)
Ink:  Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist (SU) Enchanted Evening (PTI)
Paper:  Whisper White,Marina Mist (SU), Enchanted Evening (PTI)
Accessories:  Corner Rounder (CM)

Merry Christmas

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas!

CASology - Party

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

Here's my take on the Cue Card...

My first card for this challenge was much different.  I knew I wanted to use the Spot On stamp set by Lil' Inkers.  Those dots look like a party to me!  I chose my colors and started stamping and I couldn't stop.  Before I knew it I had stamped the entire card base.

I thought and thought over this...is it CAS?
Well, it has minimal layering, white space & it can be somewhat easily reproducible.
However, that's a whole lot of pattern that looks pretty cluttered.

I turned to some of the CASology DT and they agreed, it's CAS BUT...not CAS :)

I knew I could do better, so back to my supplies I went.
Using the same supplies I think I did much better.
I replaced one of the patterned dots with a solid dot & flip flopped my pattern and white space.

I find that using strong patterns like this in negative space is a good way to keep a design CAS!

Teacher Gifts - Part 2

I'm back today with the gift set I made for Conner's Reading/Grammar teacher.  She's fun and happy, these bright colors seem to fit her!  Each card uses a different sentiment from the "Oh, Happy Day" set from Avery Elle.

I also stamped and lined the envelopes on this set.

One more set to share and only 2 more sleeps until Christmas!

You'll see the last set at the end of the week.
Have a great day!

Teacher Gifts - Part 1

This years teacher gifts were card sets.   My son's teachers are all very good friends, so I made each gift special and unique.  This is my favorite of the three sets and the only one that was not mass produced.  Conner's classroom teacher is a friend of mine and I wanted her to get something REALLY special :)

I recently won the Contemporary Roses set by MFT from Mona Pendleton and the sweet ladies over at Seize the Sketch.  I was very excited, you all know how much I love flower stamps and dies!  The images are simply beautiful, I love them with the stamped details & without.

Here are two of my favorite cards from the set.

So pretty right?
For this first card, I stamped the Contemporary Roses in Daffodil Delight & Pumpkin Pie ink and the leaves in Crumb Cake.  Then I inked up Defining Words (Wplus9) in Crumb Cake ink and stamped off once before stamping it on my card.  The greeting is from the Everyday Expressions set by FSS.

This card uses the same general design, but is stepped down a notch, more clean & simple, but equally as stunning.  These flowers were stamped in Hibiscus Burst (PTI) and Rose Red (SU) inks, the leaves in Old Olive.  My greeting is from the Fanciful Feathers set by Wplus9.

Thanks for stopping in!
I'll be back tomorrow with another handmade card set.

Distressed Feathers

This week's challenge over at StampNation is "Anything Goes".  Funny, I struggle most with those types of challenges.  I had some left over pieces from this project and used those to create an artsy thank you card.  My feathers were colored with Distress Markers, they are so fun to play with!

CASE Study #171

We're back with our 3rd week of Moxie Fab inspirations!

This image inspired me to play with my Distress Markers.

To make my card, I started by coloring with Distress Markers on watercolor paper.   Then, using my aquapainter, I brushed water over the ink to blend the colors together.  Once the paper was dry, I die cut my sentiment.  The rest was quick & easy.

Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
Then head to your craft room and link up to CASE Study.  I can't wait to see what you make!

I'm also linking up to the Simon Says Bling it On Challenge.

Let it Snow

CAS-ual Fridays "Let it Snow" Challenge came along at the perfect time...

because all it's been doing around here is snowing!
3 snow days in the past week, plus a weekend storm.  It seems like it's going to be a long Winter.

The snow and gray skies are leading to gray cards, sorry.

My Christmas card have gone postal, but I just keep on making them anyway :)

I've layered two snowflake dies by Impression Obsession using White & Red Glimmer Paper by Stampin' Up, then heat embossed my greeting with silver embossing powder.  I know it's hard to see in this photo, but can you see the embossed frame?  I used Lil' Inkers Texture Frame to do that.  It adds such a nice, subtle detail to the card, don't ya think?

 Thanks for stopping by!

CASology - Knit

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

How about some adorable knit mittens...

This card came together quickly and easily.  To do my background stamping I did some selective inking. The mittens come on a stamp together and I inked each one separately.  I placed a post-it under the mitten I wasn't using just to be sure I didn't get any excess ink on my background.

My color choices were inspired by this manly Fair Isle sweater.

All Dreamed Up

Last week my friend Kristie made this card using a sketch I posted on StampNation.  I LOVED her card so much that I dreamed about it that night.  In my dream I CASEd her card.  This is the card I made in my dream using her card as inspiration.  As I type this I'm thinking I must sound out of my mind!  haha  I know many of you love stamping as much as me so you'll enjoy and appreciate the card I dreamed up :)

Thanks for the inspiration Kristie!

CASE Study #170

We're back with our 2nd week of Moxie Fab inspirations!

That cupcake is almost to pretty to eat!

Don't these flowers look like the top of the cupcakes?!  How Moxie Fab is that?
I used Hero Art Shadow Inks in Mint Julep & Tide Pool on the flowers.  I've had these sitting around for so time now but just recently picked them up and started playing with them.  I'll tell you, I'm quickly falling in love with these inks.  The perfectionist in me doesn't like the initial splotchiness (is that a word?) of the stamped image, but as the ink sets...stunning.  I'm loving these colors!

Using Patterned Paper

As a CAS stamper, I use very little patterned paper.  A strip here & a strip there, I never seem to make headway on using my stash...until now!  I've been noticing a lot of stamped card bases with a large front panel, it's a great way to use pattern and still keep your card CAS!  Then I thought I could achieve the same look using patterned paper.  Another great thing about this design is that I didn't have to line the inside of my card with white card stock.  I just stamped my greeting and it was finished!

Are you a CAS stamper?  How do you use up your patterned paper?

My card was inspired by the colors in the inspiration photo over at the Fusion Card Challenge.

Stamps:  Pretty Poinsettia (Clearly Besotted Stamps)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso (SU)
Paper:  Whisper White, dsp (SU)
Accessories:  Pretty Poinsettia Die (Clearly Besotted Stamps), Bakers Twine (SU), Pearls

CASology - SNOWFLAKE

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

I had my sister-in-law in mind when I made this card.
She loves purple, so I usually try to incorporate it into all of her cards.

I stamped the snowflakes in shades of purple first, then filled in with small snowflakes that I heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  I added a few rhinestones to add to the shimmer & shine.

How are you inspired by SNOWFLAKE?

Out on a Limb

Hello there!  Happy weekend to you!

I'm stopping in today to share a card I made for this weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge,  to use trees on a CAS project.

I got these fabulous dies on our recent trip to North Carolina.  Whenever we travel I scope out the local stamp stores.  Though I wasn't overly impressed with the stamps, the selection of dies was...well, to die for :)   The deer and trees are perfect for Christmas, but also for masculine cards year round.  This card looks like a scene right out of my backyard, luckily without all of that snow!

Thanks for stopping in!  Have a good one :)

Stamps:  Winter Wishes (Wplus9 Design Studio)
Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Early Espresso (SU)
Accessories:  Small Deer Die & Birch Trees Die (Impression Obsession),  Polka Dot Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug),  Red Rhinestones

    CASE Study #169

It's a new month, which usually means a new muse at CASE Study.

This month, we are doing something a little bit different and I think you are going to LOVE it!
The stamping community on a whole was rocked last month when Cath announced she'd no longed be at Moxie Fab World!

For the month of December we are dedicating our challenges to the Moxie Fab World and using some of Cath's gorgeous finds to inspire us & you.

Are you ready for our first Moxie Fab inspiration?

    Oh my Moxie Fab!

How could I not use the Fanciful Feathers stamp set & gold ink?
This set hasn't gotten nearly enough love. I got it right as I started making my Christmas cards and it got pushed aside.  Slowly but surely my other stamp set are starting to see the light of day :)

My card is pretty straight forward.
I die cut and then sponged the feather before embossing it with gold ink.  I really wanted that to be my focal point, so I kept the rest of my details subtle!

    Technically Speaking

    Today is the day!

Chupa's classroom at StampNation, "Technically Speaking"
opens today with the kick off of her first EVER video tutorial!!

To celebrate this special occasion and her first video,
Chupa decided to make this video public, for now.
But in just two short weeks, the only place you'll be able to see it is on StampNation.
Then, every other week, Chupa will be adding a new exclusive tutorial to her Technically Speaking forum in The Classroom at StampNation

    CASology - RIBBON

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

Ribbons & Bows, all wrapped up for Christmas!

I love how the stitching on the ribbon mimics the stitching on the rectangles.  It gives the card such a cohesive feel.  I will most likely hand deliver this card,  I think it's a bit bulky for regular mail.  Or perhaps I'll use my Card Hanger Die and decorate a gift bag with it!
