CASology - PURPLE

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

PURPLE is not a color I tend to create with often, I'm glad this cue card pushed me to do something different.  That is what a challenge is all about, right?

CAS Design Tip:
  • Don't be afraid to use embellishments on your CAS cards, just keep them neutral so they blend with rather than distract from your design!

How are you inspired by PURPLE?

Birthday Wishes

I have a little birthday card for you on this snowy (urgh!) Saturday morning, inspired by this week's Seize the Sketch Challenge

I used the Lil' Inkers Balloon Builders Stamp Set and Papertrey's Birthday Style set to make a party scene.  I think the sequins really added to the whole festive feel of this card!  I love the variety of colors the Pretty Pink Posh store has to choose from!  I actually had a color that matched each of the colors on my card, woot!  Here I've used MarshmallowPink Peonies, Cobalt & the Winter Snow Mix!

Speaking of color, what do you think about this color combo?  I've been trying some new combos lately because I tend to use the same ones over and over.  I'm not sure who I'd give this too, maybe a not so girly girl?!

Thanks for stopping in!

Defining Friend

Hello friends!  We made it to Friday, woohoo!  Today I'm playing along in the Muse Challenge, celebrating their 1st Anniversary.  I struggled a bit at first, as I was stuck on the hearts and colors, not my normal combo.  Then I focused on the idea of definitions and words, that's when the light bulb went off.  I substituted stars for hearts, added a few fun sequins and came up with a card that's perfect for just about anyone!  Here's the card that inspired me...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Stamps:  Defining Words (Wplus9), Fall Foliage (Swirls - MFT)
Ink:  True Black (PTI)
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green (SU) Enchanted Evening (PTI)

CASE Study #175

Have you been enjoying the inspirations from our Muse Donna Mikasa?

I know I am.  Ready for another?
I really just wanted to replicate this card, it's THAT perfect, but
I did manage to veer away from the original a bit.

I used most of Donna's elements...the angled card front, gold sequins, a graphic background & a die cut word and came up with something completely different...a masculine birthday card.  It's not nearly as beautiful as Donna's, but I think it's going to make a perfect birthday card for my hubby next month.

A side story, Doug & I have desks that face each other and we work at them together a lot.  Doug always has his laptop open which creates a bit of a barrier between our desks.  The boys think it's so funny that I make all of Doug's card while he's sitting at the table with me.  They walk over ask me what I'm making and then they run away giggling, then they come back and whisper, "I can't believe Daddy doesn't know you are making his card."  It's like they are in on some BIG secret :)

I digress...

CASology - CONTRAST

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

This idea for CONTRAST came about the week I made this card.
We talked about how it might be beneficial to our players if the DT came up with two cards for a challenge,  one not so CAS and one CAS...a CONTRAST.

This card is my CAS card.

Inspired by this not so CAS card...

The bones of this card are definitely CAS, but there's a bit too many patterns & embossing which make it tip over into the not so CAS category.

How did I CASify this card?
  • I left the card base clean.  You don't need to use a white card base to keep your design CAS,  you just need clean open space.
  • Rather than many different patterns, I used only two and used those sparingly!  I balanced out the patterns with a solid heart.
How are you inspired by CONTRAST?
*You do not have to make two cards, just be inspired by the word CONTRAST and use some of the tips from the DT to create your CAS project.

Love Notes

Hello There!  Sorry for my blog silence this past weekend.  I think I got a bit burned out last week with multiple posts every other day!  I'm back though and ready for a new week of blogging :)

I had some free time yesterday to play along with this weeks CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge.  I've been dying to try out my new CASual Fridays stamps.  Having two boys taking music lessons, this set was a must for me, plus it's adorable & unique!

I am absolutely addicted to Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow Sequins.  I can not get enough of them.  I'm using them on just about every single card I make.  Get used to seeing them A LOT in the coming weeks!

I hope your week is off to a great start :)

Stamps:  Love Notes (CASual Fridays)
Ink:  True Black (PTI), Cherry Cobbler (SU)
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black (SU), pp (MME)
Accessories:  Love Notes Die (CASual Fridays), Marshmallow Sequins (PPP), Tag Die (Reverse Confetti), Cherry Cobbler Twine (SU)

I don't have the Cupcake Stamp Set, so I decided to play with the Love Notes set instead.  I've been working on my masculine card making skills lately and really pushing myself to make more of these types of cards.

I just did some simple stamping,  added a washi tape border on the sides and a cute little Pretty Pink Posh Confetti Heart

Easy Peasy!

CASE Study #174

It's week two with our Muse Donna Mikasa at CASE Study!!!!

Look at what we have as our inspiration this week...

How fun is this?

I'm pretty sure you can tell where I drew my inspiration from!
I am loving the angled card front trend, you know why?  This was not an intentional design, I actually put my sentiment on crooked (and you know me, I even used a ruler.  I don't know what happened).
So I just slanted my panel, snipped off the edges & it looks like it was supposed to be this way!

Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
Then head to your craft room and link up to CASE Study.  I can't wait to see what you make!

Lil' Inker Designs - New DT Reveal Blog Hop

I have been waiting for this day for a LONG time,
today I finally get to share...

Can someone pinch me please?

I can not even begin to describe how honored I am to be designing with such an amazingly talented group!  WOW, I'm pretty much speechless!

I may have gotten a bit carried away with my samples for the blog hop today, but once I got started, I just couldn't stop.  You all know how much I love floral sets, right?  Modern Mehndi is no different.

I used this set three different ways.

First I stamped & die cut...
Stamps:  Modern Mehndi (Lil' Inker Designs)
Ink:  True Black
Paper:  Whisper White, Pool Party Wisteria Wonder (SU) Hibiscus Burst (PTI)
Accessories:  Modern Mehndi Dies

Then I colored (yes, I broke out my Copics)...
Ink:  Memento
Paper:  X-press It, Hibiscus Burst (PTI)
Accessories:  Copics R20, R22, G40, G43 T0, Rhinestones, Marshmallow Sequins (PPP)

Finally, I took it outside the box...
Ink:  Factory Green (MFT), True Black (PTI)
Paper:  Whisper White, True Black (SU)
Accessories:  Stitched Mats: Circles

Which way do you like it best?

Go ahead, hop along and see who else is joining me on the Lil' Inker Design Team.
Make sure you leave comments along the way,
Laura is giving away one $15 Lil' Inker Designs store credit!

One more thing,  now through January 19th you'll save 15% on all orders!!!

CASology - DOT

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

I used this cute "Be Kind" DOT stamp from the Kindness Matters Stamp Set by our sponsor
this week, Neat & Tangled.
They have the cutest line of stamps.  I'm especially fond of their sentiments and fonts!

CAS Design Tips:
    • The stamped gradient hearts help ground the sentiment, so it doesn't look like it is floating in white space.
    • To make your focal point really pop, frame it with simple embellishments like these fun sequins and twine from Pretty Pink Posh.

Get Your Party On with CAS-ual Fridays!

The StampNation Birthday Bash continues today with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps as the sponsor.  I used the Woot Woot set to make this fun & trendy card.  I think that CAS-ual Fridays fills a HUGE gap in the stamping industry.  Their stamps are perfect for the tween boy population,  which in my opinion, is seriously lacking by most other companies.

To make my card, I started by die cutting "On the Diagonal" by Lil' Inkers from Whisper White card stock.  Next, I stamped the background stamp from Woot Woot on a diagonal and filled in each circle with Gold & Silver Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  The greeting was stamped then heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.

Do you want to add some CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to YOUR stash?  Catherine is giving away the Bold Wishes stamp set today.  Visit her blog to find out HOW this set can be yours!

Make sure you come back tomorrow, when we reveal our next Sponsor & Giveaway!

    CASE Study #173

It's a new month, which means a NEW muse at CASE Study,
    Welcome...

Donna's CAS style is right up my alley, we are in for a great month :)

We also have a fabby Guest Designer, Erin from Homemade Cards by Erin!

The colors & letters spoke to me, but I feel like there is so much that you can do with this design.

After stamping my sentiment, I colored each letter with Copic markers, then went over them with Wink of Stella for a little extra shimmer & shine!

Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
