Wplus9 Design Team!!!

I've been holding on to some BIG news...

I still can't believe it!
I've been a long time supporter and fan of Wplus9 and couldn't be more excited.
I literally responded to Dawn's email in under a minute :)

We have some big shoes to fill but I think we are up for the task!  I'm honored to be among such a talented group!

In honor of this special occasion I whipped up a card using Coming Up Roses for my cousins fiance.  I love these gorgeous flowers and the font on the sentiments in this set.  I added some stamping using Borders & Backgrounds 2 to the top and bottom of the panel to give it some definition from the card base.  It also helps to tie in the sentiment.  It was all finished off with a sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh sequins in 4mm Sparkly Clear and Cupped Metallic Gold.

Thanks for stopping in and sharing in our excitement!
Great things are too come :)

StampNation Blog Hop for Some Odd Girl

***This is my third post today,
please scroll down for this week's CASE Study & CAS(E) this Sketch Challenges!

Today is an exciting day at StampNation.  We are introducing a new teacher to our Classroom, Kristy Dalman from Some Odd Girl.  She will be doing exclusive coloring and Copic tutorials for our members and we couldn't be more excited.

For the next FIVE weeks, every Friday, Kristy will be adding a new lesson to StampNation.  After that, you will find a new lesson on the last Friday of every month.

An expert colorist in residence?  How awesome is THAT!?  StampNation keeps getting better and better….

The topics of her first five lessons are:
1. Intro to the markers (types, nibs, etc)
2. Color system
3. Smooth Coloring
4. Blending, 3 Color Basic Blend
5. Shading Basics

From there, she will create her lessons based on member feedback.

If you haven’t joined us at StampNation yet, learn more about it here.

The SN Design Team is doing a blog hop to introduce and welcome Kristy to our team.  Each of us have used a Some Odd Girl stamp set on our project.   My card features the Sunny Mae stamp set.

We’ve hidden TWO 1- month subscriptions to StampNation along the hop…comment on each of the design team blogs to be entered to win.  Two winners will be announced on Monday, March 31.

CASE Study #184

It's time for a new challenge at CASE StudyIs it possible that today is our last day with our muse...

Joni Nina Andaya of Papell with Love

March has been a great month.  Let's look at one more inspiration from Joni.

Stunning as always!

I was inspired by the vellum & pink and the bold contrast with the striking sentiment.  I used the new Spring Flowers die from Lil' Inkers to build a simple embellishment for my CAS card.
Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
Then head to your craft room and link up to CASE Study.

I can't wait to see what you make!

Lil' Inkers March Release Blog Hop - Day 3

I think this is Lil' Inkers best release ever!  Do you agree?  All of the new products are available for purchase (but I think Bunnies & Bows sold out already!) If you haven't seen the new release yet, you must head over to the Lil' Inker Store to check it out!

You should have arrived here from Kristen Foreman's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

My first project uses the Mixed & Stitched Alphabet and Numbers Die Sets.

This is a bit different than what you are used to seeing from me.  I decided to use the Mixed Alphabet and Numbers sets on the cover page of my Project Life album!  I also used the Stitched Mats :  Hearts here.  The font is so fun and playful, perfect for my silly family!

My next project features the Rat Race Stamp Set.  How cute is this?  Such a unique design, I've never seen anything like it.  Brilliant, really!

And there you have it!  That's the last of my blog hop projects.  Don't worry, you'll be seeing all of these products used over and over again!!

Next up is Sarah Jay, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

Thanks for all of the lovely comments you've left over the past few days, I really appreciate each and every one of them! xo

CASology - Lucky

*This is my second post today.  Please scroll down for the Lil' Inkers March Release Blog Hop!

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

I combined sentiments from the Lil' Inkers newly released Spot On Spring stamp set & Super Star by Wplus9 to make a fun, congratulatory card.  The colors are perfect for young boys, which I happen to have two of :)

CAS Design Tips:
  • Add color in fun and unique ways, without adding layers.  Here I have inked my sentiment with three different colors of ink.
  • This is my go-to sketch, one I turn to time and time again.  Placing my stamping in the bottom third of my layer guarantees plenty of white space in the top 2/3!

Lil' Inker Designs March Release - Day 2

It's Day 2 of the Lil' Inkers Design Team Blog Hop!  Lots of fun new products have already been added to the Lil' Inker store.  If you haven't seen the new release yet, you must head over to the Lil' Inker Store to check it out!

You should have arrived here from Kristen Foreman's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

Today I'm using more of the new dies combined with the Spring Sentiments stamp set, seriously the cutest sentiments ever.  So perfect and SO what I need after a long Winter!

My first card uses the Spring Flowers die.  I've been secretly hoping for some Stitched Flowers, you all know how much I LOVE flower stamps and dies :)  I love that there are two sizes that can be layered together or used alone.  And those leaves can double as Easter eggs, brilliant!

I really wanted to showcase those flowers on my card.  To make them pop I kept the rest of my card neutral.  I stamped and heat emboss the Spring Sentiment on an Anytime Tag that was die cut from Crumb Cake card stock. The card base is the Woodgrain card stock from SSS.

My next project features the sweet Bunnies & Bows dies.  Perfect for Easter tags and baskets!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Sarah Jay, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

Have fun hopping & shopping!  See you tomorrow!

Lil' Inker Designs March Release - Day 1

The fun begins today with the first of three days of blog hops!  Lots of fun new products have already been added to the Lil' Inker store.  If you haven't seen the new release yet, you must head over to the Lil' Inker Store to check it out!

Before I introduce my project to you, let's give a warm welcome to our newest design team member and Director of Social Media, Erin Lee Schreiner.

You should have arrived here from Kristen Foreman's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

My card today combines a few of the fabulous new products...

Spot On Spring

Spring Sentiments

 Stitched Butterflies

This release is right up my alley!  I know I will be using these products time and time again.

I stamped my background with some of the floral images from Spot On Spring in a variety of pinks and melon, then I placed the sentiment and gorgeous Stitched Butterflies front and center!

Creating Movement & Flow

Three years ago when StampNation first opened, I got a ton of questions about how to make CAS cards. Members loved my cards, but they just couldn't get theirs to look right.  One day I posted a card in the forums and gave tips on HOW I kept it CAS.  This lesson ultimately led to the opening of my CAS Classroom.  Over the years I have touched on many topics such as "white"space, focal points, patterned paper, techniques and everything in between.

My latest lesson was on Movement & Flow.  Here's a peek...

I truly believe that my lessons will not only make you a better CAS card designer, but a better designer in general.  These lessons touch on things like placement and balance, which can be translated into any design style.

Over the past 3 years my style has grown and evolved, I feel like I have so much more that I can offer StampNation members!  Next month I will be making some changes that I think will really improve and expand upon what I have been teaching in the CAS Classroom.  Members are going to LOVE it!  I promise!!

CAS(E) this Sketch! #69

**This is my second post today.  Please scroll down to view this week's CASE Study challenge!

I had a stamp set that was perfect for this challenge, too perfect actually that it felt like cheating.
This is a challenge after all :)

I'm in love with the large sentiment die cuts that are so big in paper crafting right now!  I die cut this "Mom Word Die" by Lil' Inkers first from patterned paper, then layered it over black to really make it pop!

How are you inspired by this week's sketch?  Make sure you head over to CAS(E) this Sketch! to see what the rest of the team created!

Stamps:  Mom & Dad Sentiments (Lil' Inker Designs)
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento)

CASE Study #183 - It's Spring!!!

It's time for a new challenge at CASE Study!

Has our muse totally knocked your socks off or what?
I'm excited for another week of inspiration from...

Joni Nina Andaya of Papell with Love

I think where I've drawn inspiration is quite apparent :)

A floral wreath sprinkled with 4mm Sparkling Clear Sequins for the First Day of Spring!
It doesn't feel like it yet, but Spring is coming.  Woohoo!!!
Thank goodness because this has been one long Winter.

Paper:  Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder (SU) Hibiscus Burst, Simply Chartreuse (PTI)
Accessories:  Fresh Cut Floral Dies, Memorybox Wreath, 4 mm Sparkling Clear Sequins

CASology - BLUSH

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

Blush?!  Another one that stumped me, until I found this image from Lil' Inkers in my stash :)

I'm pretty sure I BLUSHed when Doug asked me for my number.
Though he did have to ask for it twice ;)
And, I'm glad he did!

CAS Design Tip:
Layering tags is a great way to build a focal point.  I was able to use 3 designs of patterned paper on my card and I got away with that by using only one "busy" pattern and keeping my card base crisp and clean.

How are you inspired by BLUSH?

Tattered Angels & StampNation

Phew, we made it to Friday!!!  This has been a crazy blogging week, please forgive me if I'm on the quiet side this weekend ;)

How fun is this card?  A bit different for me, right?!  Tattered Angels is our sponsor at StampNation this week and they sent me and the rest of the team a BOX of goodies including their new line "Tattered Tangles", patterned paper, paints, clips etc.  The style of these products is way different than my own, so a challenge it was!!  I was really drawn to one sheet in particular, a full sheet of quotes.  I used my Stitched Rectangles to die cut one of the sentiments, then used the same die to cut a piece of patterned paper.  From there I splattered some paint, scattered some rhinestones and sequins, and ended up with something really fun and trendy.

(Scroll all the way to the bottom and enter using the Rafflecopter)

I have another card that I made specifically for the StampNation Challenge #120 - Doodles!  Hop on over to StampNation to see that and what the rest of the Design Team created using Tattered Angels products.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #68

*This is my second post today.  Please scroll down for this week's CASE Study Challenge!!

Are you ready for a new sketch?

Here's my take...

My friend Catherine used this Paper Smooches "We Connect" stamp set in our Basics & Beyond class and I HAD to have it :)  I love the fun font and different ampersand stamps included in the set.  It's taken me a while to get on board with the ampersand trend,  I don't know what I've been waiting for!

Rather than using a long banner like the sketch shows, I decided on a tag and replaced the oval with a circle, just because it fit my sentiment better.  That's the fun thing about sketches, they give you a starting point and then you can use your creativity to make something all your own!

Head on over to CAS(E) this Sketch! to see what the rest of the design team created.
I hope you'll play along too!!

Stamps:  We Connect (Paper Smooches)
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake (SU) Cut & Paste (MME)
Accessories: Stitched Circles & Hearts Dies (Lil' Inker Designs) Tag (PTI) Enamel Dots (MME),  Linen Thread (SU)

CASE Study #182

It's time for a new challenge and inspiration from our Muse at CASE Study...

Joni Nina Andaya of Papell with Love

Another stunning card!
Joni inspired me to pull out my Distress Inks...

I've really been enjoying Distress Inks and Markers lately, though I don't so much love what my hands look like when I'm done :)  After making my background, I flicked a bit of water on it.  Then I stamped my sentiment.  For just a little sparkle, I added a few 4 mm & 6 mm Sparkly Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and a Stitched Heart from Lil' Inkers.

Make sure your stop by each of the DT's blog to see how they were inspired!
Then head to your craft room and link up to CASE Study.

CASology - ROOTS

It's time for a new CASology Cue Card!!!

What a creative Cue Card, ROOTS.  There are SO many possibilities.  I thought this was the perfect time to pull out my tree embossing folder!

I love the subtle impression left by the embossed tree.  Embossing is a great way to add texture and interest to a CAS card!  I used Fresh Cut Florals to add a pop of color and balanced out my design by stamping one flower on the left side of my sentiment.

How are you inspired by ROOTS?

For today's card, I used the Feeling Fruity stamps and dies.

These stamps are too cute, right?!  To really showcase the stamps, I kept my card ultra-CAS.  I added some extra detail by using the Faux Diamonds technique on the lemons.  To do this, I die cut and stamped the images.  Then I pressed them into my Versamark Ink pad and sprinkled them with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set them.  It adds the perfect amount of glitter to make these lemons really shine!  I finished off my design with a sprinkling of Marshmallow Sequins and rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check the Whimsy blog tomorrow for more sneak peeks!
