StampNation LIVE 2014

Hello all,

As you read this, I am stamping in Raleigh, NC at the StampNation LIVE retreat!  3 full days of fun and friends.  I so look forward to this event each year. As Catherine & I planned the weekend this year we focused a bit more on teaching, trying, using products and techniques that maybe people haven't tried before...stencils, Copics, Distress Inks, Gelatos etc.  At today's "Try-it Table" I am working with Distress Inks.  The watercolored look on the flowers on the card above is one of the techniques I will be showing.  These gorgeous roses from the Coming Up Roses set by WPlus9 were stamped in Distress Inks on watercolor paper, then painted over with water.  I love how distress inks blend together!

I'll be posting more from StampNation LIVE when I return home.  If you'd like to see what we've been up to, we have updates going up on StampNation and Catherine's Facebook page every couple of hours!

I hope you are having a great weekend :)

Lil' Inker Designs April Release - Day 3

Have you enjoyed the design team blog hops over the past few days?  You are in luck because we have one more hop for you today!  If you haven't seen it yet, the April release is LIVE at the Lil' Inker Store!!

You should have arrived here from the very talented Kristen Foreman's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog and start from the beginning.

I have an adorable project for you today featuring...

I have two smart cookies in my house.  With the end of the year right around the corner, I made a card perfect for the Awards Ceremony.  I used black and red, Conner's school colors, so this will be going to him come May!  Using school colors is a great way to personalize an end of the year or graduation card.

For us non-colorers, line stamps make great background stamps!  I love the addition of glasses to this cookie image, it makes him look so smart :)

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Sarah Jay, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

Have fun hopping & shopping!

Stamps: Smart Cookie (LID)

Are you ready for a new sketch?
This week we have joined forces with the Runway Inspired Challenge!
We are using their photo inspiration with our sketch.  Check it out:

My take on this challenge...

The minute I saw the Runway Inspired Challenge I knew I'd have to use big flowers in blue and orange.  These gorgeous Contemporary Roses from MFT fit the bill perfectly!  Like the inspiration, I added lots of black.  I altered the sketch a bit and went with a slanted panel rather than a curved line.

How are you inspired by this week's sketch?  Make sure you head over to CAS(E) this Sketch! to see what the rest of the team created! Then head over to Runway Inspired Challenge and see what their team created.  Make sure you link up to BOTH challenges!  This is a 2 week challenge, so you'll have plenty of time to play along!

The April release is LIVE at the Lil' Inker Store!!  If you haven't seen the new release yet, you must head over and check it out.

The DT is hopping along again today showing off all of the fabulous new products.  You should have arrived here from Kristen Foreman's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog and start from the beginning.

My project today features...

I'm a huge fan of lunch box notes.  I knew right away that I'd have to make a few of them!

How adorable, right?  I die cut the stars and stamped just the front, then wrote a little note on the inside.  The stars fit perfectly inside the new Glassine Envelopes.  I dressed them up a bit with Bakers Twine and Pretty Pink Posh sequins, then closed them with a little bit of washi tape.  I hope the kids don't make a huge mess when they open them at school!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Sarah Jay, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

CASology Farewell

Today will be my last post as part of the CASology Design Team.  It has been an honor to design with such a wonderful, supportive, FUN group of crafty ladies.  I will miss the weekly challenges and how they sometimes push me to my limits (eh-hem Ardyth!).

If only there were more hours in the day, I'd stay forever :)

Thank you Melissa for taking a chance on me and offering me such a wonderful opportunity,
I had a blast!

Shall we get on with it....

April showers bring May flowers and I've incorporated both in my card today!

CAS Design Tip:
  • Black and white with pops of bright color always makes for a stunning CAS card!
  • Subtle embellishments that blend with your background add texture and interest without making your card look busy.

Pick-A-Pattern Mini Class

Does this sound familiar?
  • You have a ton of patterned paper and you can't bare to cut it apart, basically you are a paper hoarder!
  • You want to use patterned paper on your cards but you don't know how.
  • You want some fun ideas in your crafty toolbox on how to use patterned paper.
If any or all of this sounds familiar, you are in luck!  The StampNation Design Team is putting on a week long mini-class beginning today for StampNation members!  Each day a different DT member will post a new lesson, tutorial, idea on how to use patterned paper on cards.  EVEN ME, a CAS designer at heart, has found a way to use patterned paper effectively without making my cards look busy or overdone!

Our "Pick-a-Pattern" online class is exclusive to StampNation members.
Don't miss out...

StampNation + CAS-ual Fridays = FUN!

*This is my third post today. Please scroll down to see this week's CASE Study & CAS(E) this Sketch Challenges.

April is a very exciting month for us at StampNation!  Yesterday we announced our guest designers, Amy Kolling and Allison Cope, WOW!  Today we revealed this week's challenge sponsor, CAS-ual Fridays!  Lucky us, right & very exciting stuff!

Our challenge went up earlier today.  The theme this week is FUN, in honor of CAS-ual Fridays line of stamps which is totally fun.  I used the Wonderful Words stamp set on my card.  Here's a sneak peek of the card I made for the challenge...

I couldn't stop playing with these stamps, so I went ahead and made another card (the one at the top of this post!).  I had FUN playing with Distress Markers and watercolor paper!  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment once everything was dry.  The flower was also heat embossed on vellum card stock then fussy cut.  I love the simplicity of this design and didn't want to take away from that, so I added only a single Sparkly Clear Sequin to the center of my flower.

I turned this grungy, paint splattered sketch pretty and girly :)

I planned to stamp just a few flowers from Fresh Cuts Florals, but couldn't stop.  I think the florals really make the monogram pop.  Wouldn't this make a wonderful gift set?!  I finished my card off with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Sparkly Clear Sequins and pearls, a bit of an obsession of mine lately ;)
