Using Dies to Emboss

My lesson this month in the CAS Classroom at StampNation is about adding interest without adding layers.  Using your dies to emboss is a great way to achieve this!

Here's a peek at my card...

I now have over 40 lessons in the CAS Classroom and 9 video tutorials!!!

I cover everything from the visual triangle and white space, to using patterned paper, creating masculine cards, card sets, mass producing, sketches, negative space and MORE!!!

Here's a peek of what the CAS Classroom looks like:

Clearly Whimsy New Release Blog Hop

I'm thrilled to be joining Clearly Whimsy in their new release blog hop!
This release is super cute.  All products are available now at Whimsy and retailers on  March 15th.

My card features the Into the Woods stamp set.

These stamps are perfect for building woodland scenes.  There are so many little details included in this set.  The tree is big and bold, it could definitely act as a stand alone focal image or you can use it along with the other images like I have here.  This is definitely a versatile set with the sentiments included you can literally use this for any occasion in any season (more to come on that note!)  I created a Spring scene, of course!  It's been a looong Winter!!

Time to hop along.  Make sure you leave comments along the way so you'll be eligible to win a gift from Whimsy.  (You must comment on ALL blogs in the hop!)

Lil' Inker Designs March Monthly Meet Up

It's time for another Lil' Inker Designs Monthly Meet Up Challenge.  It's an easy, low key, anything goes challenge using Lil' Inker products!

This is my favorite color combo right now, I've been having so much fun with these colors lately!  I used them on two of my Lil' Inker Designs release posts recently.

I decided to put these colors to work again for my meet up card!

Using Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Crushed Concord Distress Ink I painted a piece of watercolor paper.  Once it was dry I die cut the Seriously Word Die(I have a ton of that paper left, you'll be seeing more projects using that!)  I stamped the sentiment from the Seriously Awesome stamp set on a panel that was die cut using Stitched Mats:  Rectangles and layered my pieces on a card base that was embossed using the Center Point Chevron Cover Up Plate.  Lastly, I scattered sequins that perfectly match my project around the top panel.

Now, Here's what you need to do to play along:
  • Make a new project or share something you've been working on featuring LID goodies!
  • Post this project to your blog or favorite gallery.
  • Link your project to our challenge by using the InLinkz tool beneath my signature below.
  • You have through March 18th at 11:30 PM EST to link your project to be eligible to win a prize. Projects should exclusively feature LID goodies to be eligible to win but do not need to exclusively feature LID goodies to join our Meetup.
  • This month's prize is a $50 gift certificate to Lil' Inker Designs!
  • Winners will be announced in a new blog post shortly after March 18th. Have fun and we can't wait to see what you're working on!

I sure hope that you will play along!

Pretty Pink Posh New Release Blog Hop

Did you see the new Pretty Pink Posh Dies?  This is most definitely my favorite release to date!  Today myself and the Pretty Pink Posh design team are hopping along sharing projects featuring the new release.

My card features the Stitched Banner Duo and Stitched Labels 1 Die.  The Stitched Banner Duo makes for a perfect focal point as I have used it here.  I scattered 4mm Sparkling Clear and Metallic Silver sequins and 8mm Sparkling Clear sequins around the card.  And, see those little tiny hearts?  Those are from the Stitched Label die.  There is also a heart and circle included, I love that little detail!

Time to hop along now.  There are two $25 gift certificates available, so be sure you leave comments along the way.   Winners will be picked randomly along the blog hop.

*Comments must be left by 11:59 PM PDT on 3/11/2015. Winners will be announced on the PPP blog!

Lil' Inker Designs March Release Day 3

It's the last day of the Lil' Inker Design Team blog hops.  If you haven't checked out the new release make sure you do so, everything is available now in the Lil' Inker Store

You should have arrived here from Sarah Jay's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

I have two more projects to share with you today.  My first card is a clean and graphic card featuring Really Rosemaling.

I love playing with sets like this and seeing how I can make a graphic design with them.  Honestly, it took some practice and a whole lot of scrap paper to get it just right, but I love how it turned out.

My last card for this release uses the Really Rosemaling (again, shown above) Paint Your Canvas and the Pointelle Cover Up Die.

What a fun Cover Up die!  I love the bold graphic design in the background!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Amy Kolling, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

I hope you've enjoyed my release projects!  I'm excited to start seeing some of these products popping up around blog land!

Lil' Inker Designs March Release Day 2

We are back with our second day of design team blog hops for the Lil' Inker Designs January release.  Have you seen all of the fabulous new products in the  Lil' Inker Store?  You must check it out!

You should have arrived here from Amy Kolling's.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

Today's projects are a bit different for me.
3d items aren't usually my "thang" but these LID products make them so easy to create!

I seriously want to make one of these for everyone I know.  How cute is this mini easel?  Stamping and painting on "canvas"  then placing it on an easel makes me feel like a real artist :)  This was so easy to make!  First I pressed Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Dusty Concord Distress inks onto an acrylic block and spritzed them with water.  Next I heat embossed the sentiment in white and brushed over the sentiment with clean water.  Using the wet paintbrush, I picked up color from the blocks and dropped it onto the water.  I kept adding color until I got good coverage.  I didn't paint, I just dropped color and let the water do the work.  My final step was flicking the canvas with ink from the paintbrush.

I'm not usually one to fuss with goodies boxes etc, but honestly this is the easiest little treat box I have ever put together.  I think I made this adorable bunny in 5 minutes, tops.  It took longer figuring out what paper I was going to use than it took to actually assemble it!  I'm going to make a bunch of these for Easter for teachers and secretaries at the school (unless Ethan says he's too old for this too!)

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Chrissy Larson, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

See you tomorrow!

Lil' Inker Designs March Release Day 1

The fun begins today with the first of three days of blog hops for the Lil' Inkers January release.  All of the new, amazing products are available NOW in the Lil' Inker StoreThis month you'll be feeling the love, as well as getting a twist on LID's signature stitched dies!

You should have arrived here from Laura Williams' blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

I'm really excited about the products I'm showing you today!  The Hey, Foxy line is so much fun to play with and fall perfectly in line with the Woodland Critter trend.

My fist card today is ultra-CAS!  I initally thought I'd die cut the fox from colored cardstock or patterned paper, but I didn't have any in my stash that would give me the realistic look I was going for.  Instead I sponged with distress inks and I'm thrilled with the result.  I also sponged a bit on the card base to help make the fox pop!  I die cut the Foxy Word die and added a few clouds that were die cut using the Cloudy Sky Die.  I love how this card turned out and I have the perfect "Fox"y lady to send it to ;)

This month we have a promotion for orders of $75 or more!

The Wonky Squares are fun & funky.  Place an order of $75 or more and you get these for 25% off!

Going along with the critter theme today, I have a Wonky shaker card.

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Chrissy Larson, I've seen her projects and they are fantastic!   Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

Have fun hopping & shopping!  See you tomorrow!

Sparkle & Shine Challenge

There's a new challenge site, the Sparkle & Shine Challenge!  These challenges are dedicated to sequins!!!  I'm thrilled to be joining them, along with some of the Pretty Pink Posh team, for their first challenge.

I was inspired by the green and shamrock.

To make my card, I die cut the Stitched Duo 1 die and lined the back with foam tape.  I partially adhered it to my white card base, then sprinkled in some 4mm Gold Metallic sequins, 6mm Sparkling Clear sequins and 6mm Mossy Green sequins.  I stamped and die cut the shamrock and then the sentiment from Champagne card stock, adhering both with liquid glue.  The finishing touch was a bow tied from Pretty Pink Posh Brown Twine.

I hope you'll play along in this new challenge!
