Awesome Blossoms!

You all know that I am a huge fan of floral stamp sets, right?  I'll never have too many!  So maybe I'm a bit biased, but the new Awesome Blossoms stamp set from Lil' Inkers is truly AWESOME!  I love how some of the flowers are two-step, while others are solitary images.  Depending how you stamp them they can be the most elegant of flowers like they are here paired with gold accents or fun and playful.  The sentiments included in the set make it perfect for so many occasions!

If you are looking for a go-to floral stamp set, Awesome Blossoms gets my vote.  Hands down!

Hello CTS#120

It feels like forever since I've played along in a challenge.  I had some free time this weekend and I headed right to the CAS(E) this Sketch blog to check out their challenge this week.

I was very much tempted to copy the sketch, but decided to go in a different direction.  In the end I think I go a little carried away with black ink splotches and sequins, but I had fun with it and that's the most important part.  Not every card can be a winner, right ;)

Speaking of sequins, I have a giant Pretty Pink Posh giveaway going on here on my blog.

Hurry, comments close today at 11:59pm EDT!

 Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Ink:  Vineyard Kaleidacolor Ink (Imagine Crafts) Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper:  Whisper White (SU) Black (WPlus9)
Accessories:  Hey Hi Hello Die (WPlus9)  Sequins (PPP)

Camellia Congrats

Using patterned paper in CAS design is a bit tricky.  Too much pattern can sometimes take away from the design.  I find that using it in small doses and pairing it with black and white is a sure fire way to keep your design clean.

You also want to make sure that you stay away from busy patterns on CAS cards, though I do have a trick up my sleeve on how to use those too.  I'll be sharing that soon, so stay tuned!

15 Minute Challenge

When I visited Catherine last week, we challenged ourselves to make a card that used masking and sponging in 15 minutes.   That's my finished card above.  When I do challenges like this I usually use a layout I've done before, something I know works.  I've used this idea before, both the layout and sponging many times, so I knew it had to work for the challenge!  Any time you are at a loss for new ideas or if you are low on time, I encourage you to do the same.

Catherine is posting her card today too.  You have to head over to her blog to check it out.  She gave her image a double stenciled look, maybe she even invented a new technique?  It's new to me anyway.

We left the cameras rolling through the 15 minute challenge, you can view the video here on Catherine's blog.  I haven't seen it yet, but I bet it's good for a few laughs.  We were stressing a bit.  At the end I'm looking for a stamp for the bottom of my card.  I was wishing I had brought my WPlus9 Country Charm set, but no luck.  Catherine trimmed that little piece for me, I was low on time and that had to do :)

Here are some pics from the visit...

Lil' Inker Designs April Release Day 3

It's the last day of the Lil' Inker Design Team blog hops.  If you haven't checked out the new release make sure you do so, everything is available now in the Lil' Inker Store

You should have arrived here from Chrissy Larson's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

I have two more projects to share with you today.  My first card is a clean and simple card featuring We Connect.

I just love the graphic look of these circles.  The image was stamped with a Kaliedacolor ink pad in Caribbean, an easy way to give the image a multi-colored look.  This card came together so quickly and easily that I made a second card just flipping the design.

My last project for this release is a little note made with the Petal Card Die.

How cute, right?  I used the Stitched Square die which fits perfectly into the inside of the Petal Card Die.  I stamped and embellished it and then placed it inside the Petal Card Die and filled it with sequins, then I simply folded it up and slid it in the Glassine Bags (not shown in graphic above).  These make super cute little treats!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Sarah Jay, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

I hope you've enjoyed my release projects!  I'm excited to start seeing some of these products popping up around blog land!

Lil' Inker Designs April Release Day 2

We are back with our second day of design team blog hops for the Lil' Inker Designs April release.  Have you seen all of the fabulous new products in the  Lil' Inker Store?  You must check it out!

You should have arrived here from Karen Baker's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

Today I'm sharing two clean and simple card using the newly released products.  First up is Awesome Blossoms and Send Pretty Greetings.

I really wanted to make the sentiment and my images the focal point!  The pretty font and blooms deserve to take center stage.  I just added some score lines to ground the images and a bit of twine to help the eye move around the design.

My next card featured the Boxed Up Birthday Die and Vintage Ink.

I went with a crisp, CAS look!

I can see making this card over and over, not the EXACT card but the basic idea with the Boxed Up die cut and an image in the bottom left like a balloon or a gift package.  This design makes for a quick card (well, that's if you don't color the image with Copics! like I did here!)  I have my fingers crossed that Laura will come out with a line of Boxed Up dies like this one!!!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Amy Kolling, so head over to her blog because you know she'll have something AMAZING to show you.  Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

See you tomorrow!

Lil' Inker Designs - April Release Day 1

The fun begins today with the first of three days of blog hops for the Lil' Inker Designs April release.  All of the new, amazing products are available NOW in the Lil' Inker Store.

You should have arrived here from Sarah Jay's blog.  If not, head to the Lil' Inker Store Blog to start from the beginning.

The April release is fun and fresh.  I've been having a blast with them!  First up is the Perky Posies Die set, which I have paired with the Speech Bubbles 2 Die and a sentiment from Awesome Blossom.

It looks like I have a flower party going on here!

Isn't this fun?  I have a feeling these cute flowers are going to wind up on a ton of my cards during the Spring and Summer months.  I used the chalkboard technique on my die cut speech bubble to serve as a contrast with the colors but also soften it so it wasn't so stark.

Since  I had a flower party going on, I may as well have an elephant party too! Meet our new set, Party Pachyderms ;)

Totally adorable!

I had a blast creating with this set.  I love the scene building possibilities here, so many cute little details!

Time to keep hopping along now.  Next up is Chrissy Larson, I've seen her projects and they are fantastic!   Make sure to leave comments along the way too, because Laura is giving away 3 - $15 Store Credits!

Have fun hopping & shopping!  See you tomorrow!

StampNation Virtual Retreat is LIVE!

The StampNation Virtual Retreat is LIVE!

These events are always such a blast, I hope you are joining us.

I have a funny story to tell you about the first challenge.  I'm a rule follower, pretty much all around in my life.  I like to get things done before they are due, I'm on time or early for every appointment, I don't like to forget things or to be late or overdue, you get the point!  Well, when I sat down to write the posts for the Virtual Retreat I realized I didn't do one of my projects, GASP!  So I set right to it and made a super fun card using lots of Pretty Pink Posh supplies (one of our sponsors).

See, isn't it adorable?  The problem though came the next day when it occurred to me that this is a LIMITED SUPPLIES challenge and I went about 4 to 5 items over my limit.  What on earth was this rule follower thinking?  I went back to my stamp table and made another card being extremely careful to stay within the challenge limits.  I was quite pleased with the outcome.

Here's a sneak peek at my project...

Until I realized once again, I was breaking the rules. WHAT?   With no more creative time left, I submitted my rule breaker and admitted to my failure of following the rules.

A limited supplies challenge should have been super easy for a CAS stamper, but I'm finding CAS doesn't mean little supplies.

Lil' Inker Designs April Meet Up

It's time for another Lil' Inker Designs Monthly Meet Up Challenge.  It's an easy, low key, anything goes challenge using Lil' Inker products!

I thought it was more than appropriate to create a card using the Dance in the Rain stamp set this month.  We've had rain for the past few days here.  I sure hope it does bring beautiful May flowers.

I'm having a blast with Distress Inks and watercolor paper lately.  To make my card, I started by white heat embossing the sentiment on watercolor paper.  Next, I took Dusty Concord, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks and pressed them onto a large acrylic block.  I spritzed the inks with water and laid the embossed layer right onto the ink.  I kept pressing it into the ink until I was happy with the coverage, then I heat set it to dry.  To add to the rain theme, I flicked some water onto the dried piece and lifted the water up with a paper towel to remove some of the ink and leave watermarks.

Now, Here's what you need to do to play along:
  • Make a new project or share something you've been working on featuring LID goodies!
  • Post this project to your blog or favorite gallery.
  • Link your project to our challenge by using the InLinkz tool beneath my signature below.
  • You have through April 18th at 11:30 PM EST to link your project to be eligible to win a prize. Projects should exclusively feature LID goodies to be eligible to win but do not need to exclusively feature LID goodies to join our Meetup.
  • This month's prize is a $50 gift certificate to Lil' Inker Designs!
  • Winners will be announced in a new blog post shortly after March 18th. Have fun and we can't wait to see what you're working on!

I sure hope that you will play along!

WPlus9 April Release - Stitched Hearts, Love Mom & Love Mom Layers Dies

This is the last of my WPlus9 April release posts.

Don't worry though, I'll be back soon using these awesome products.  There was so much packed into this release that I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

Today my card features Stitched Hearts Border, Love Mom stamps and the Love Mom Layers dies.

This card was super quick and easy to make.  I simply cut the border die twice from three different gradient colors and adhered them to a white card base.  Then I die cut "Mom" three times from white and once from Black Cardstock.  I stacked and glued them together and adhered them to the card base.  Lastly, I stamped the greeting.  I have another idea using this same idea, I better write it down before I forget ;)

I hope you've enjoyed my projects for this release.  Make sure you visit Dawn at the WPlus9 Design Blog, Kara and Joni for even more inspiration. Happy Friday!
