Casual Comfort

Sympathy cards are by far the hardest to make.  It’s a great idea to keep some on hand for when you need them.  My sympathy cards are always simple, based on natural elements.  I also tend to use shades of green and blue.  For me these colors are soothing, reminding me of the sound of the rolling waves in the ocean.  As I write this, I’m amazed at how many choices we make as card makers and how these choice affect the final outcome of our project!

Casual Comfort by CAS-ual Fridays, is the perfect stamp set to use for sympathy cards.  It lends itself to that natural feel I’m always looking for and looks beautiful stamped in blues and greens.  On my card today, I used the Layered Stamping technique.  I started by stamping the largest image in the lightest shade, gradually moving to smaller images and darker colors.

This is the trick to layered stamping, lightest color/largest stamp first and gradually move to the darkest color/smallest stamp.  To add a little more interest to the overall design, I did some faded sponging over the stamped images.  A simple sentiment is all that was needed to finish off this CAS design.

I hope you liked my card and mini-lesson on Sympathy cards :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Mo ~ This is such a beautifully soothing card. Unfortunately sympathy cards are a necessary "evil" and the softness of your stamping is sure to bring comfort to the recipient. ~HUGS~
