Zen Garden Blog Hop - Day 4

Welcome to Day 5 of the Zen Garden release blog hops.   The Zen Garden collection contains 8 new Spa ink colors, 6 stamp sets, 8 dies and a stencil, all available now!  If you haven't been following along, definitely head over to Catherine's blog to find out all of the nitty-gritty details about the release.

Today I have two projects that showcase many of the newly released products.  First up is a home decor item that I created using some of the new Spa inks, the Faithful Flutterings and Eat, Sleep, Create stamp sets and the Create die.

Eek, this makes me so happy!  I have this 5 x7 piece displayed right on my desk where I can see it every day.   These gorgeous layered butterflies are perfection!!  They look pretty stamped in shades of the same color or black for contrast and a POP in your design.  This piece can easily be replicated on an A2 card using the smaller butterflies in the set.

Next up is the Zen Feather stamp and die set and the Stained Glass Coverplate (the first cover plate available at Catherine Pooler designs!)

The Zen Garden release offers a huge variety of products that can be used for so many occasions and so many styles!  I went from making a home decor piece to a sympathy card without blinking an eye.

The focus of my card is really the Stained Glass Coverplate.  I wanted to show an alternate way to use a cover plate, without covering an entire card base or layer. Using just portions of a coverplate can help create really beautiful focal points like I've done here.

I started by die cutting a circle from the upper third of a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of white card stock.  I sponged the circle with the newly released Skylight, Stone Blue and Juniper inks, a gorgeous, soothing palette for sympathy cards.  I then heat embossed the Zen Feather with white embossing powder, heat set it and sponged with the same color inks.  The Stained Glass Cover plate was die cut from a 3 x 3" piece of white card stock and the sentiment from Faithful Flutterings was white heat embossed on Midnight cardstock.  The pieces were then assembled and finishing touches of sequins and twine were added.

It's time to hop along now!  Make sure you leave comments along the way.  Catherine is giving away 2 sets of Zen Garden inks each day of the blog hops!!
